** OCZ Z-Series PSUs - IN STOCK NOW **

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Enermax revolution. They can easily achieve 90% efficiency, although with a price to match their quality. They are definitely a Tier 1 manufacturer though and shouldn't be overlooked.

Corsair vs OCZ is a bit ridiculous, either group are so close to the same quality that it doesn't matter. They're even based in the same country. And both release a wide range of supplies, variable in quality.

For the Corsair is the best! crowd above, I believe it's the 620W ones where we had about a dozen fail just on here a few weeks back.

Seasonic/pc p&c/enermax are still leading the field as far as I know, with ocz/corsair/be quiet a little bit behind.

OcUK occasionally say that they get fewer returns on the modxstream ocz than any other, which I think is a good sign

ModXStream is the only PSU ive had turn up dead on my doorstep - just going off personal experience id prefer Corsair.
Suppose either brand will have their up/down sides.

Bit concerned about these - as their last OCZ PSU's were dire for overclocking - nearly all the complaints about OCUK's overclocked bundles were from OCZ PSU buyers as well. Hope these are a lot better.

O RLY? My OCZ elitexstream overclocked my q6600 to 3.85Ghz and my q9650 to over 4.6Ghz

However, I will say that there are good and bad OCZ psus as each range is built by a different psu maker and to a price with different components.

The elitexstreme had all japanese caps and superb internals from memory and was a quality psu. I know other models in ocz's range were perhaps reliable but the not as good quality where it mattered on voltage ripple and stability of the lines.

Remember that a bit like tft screens, there are only actually a handful of psu manufacturers in the world which build all the psu's for the brands. Hence you sometimes see identical psu's but with different name badges on.

To me, which oem makes the psu and the components used is far more important than the brand who is selling it.

Is there any PSU manufacturer which hasn't had a dodgy batch at some point? Given that OcUK must have sold many thousands of Corsair 620s, I'm not getting too worried about a dozen failing. It's the same situation as when Tagans were insanely popular - unsurprisingly, a few of them exploded.

I don't think its unreasonable for the odd batch to go wrong. An elitexstream mentioned by Greebo ran absolutely beautifully for me until the light went red and it ceased function. I think the attitude of 'these guys are the best always and never look at anything else' is daft, and that happens to be the only example of corsairs going wrong I can think of

There's wisdom to this, but also the flaw that many of us (inc me) just don't know anything about the oem manufacturers or how to judge the component quality or circuitboard design
