IT'S NOT THE DEALER WHO SUPPLIES THE OTHER 1K IT'S THE MAUNFACTURER!
You are right, the process itself is not exactly hard. I've just never experienced a scrapyard that doesn't charge you to collect your car. Maybe that's just a case of limited experience.
I had no problems a year ago getting a scrapyard to collect a shell.
They came and rolled it off the drive as i put some steelies on, lifted it onto a HIAB and took it away.
I dropped the V5 off with them and collected £50.
Besides, the car needs to have MOT/Tax to be suitable for the scheme so you could drive it there anyway![]()
Markets change, and a year ago the price of scrap was sky high, now it's dropped a lot lower. A year ago that shell would have been worth around £100 (gate price), depending on how big a car it was. These days it's more like £40, so it's a lot less of an incentive for people to go out and collect stuff, unless they charge for it.
PK!

H reg, engine still has the dynamo![/QUOTE]
I can't believe it :(
They'd probably get that if they sold it and negotiated a discount at the dealer.

H reg, engine still has the dynamo!
That's probably a £5k car looking at it's condition!
Well, at least it will be re-cycled. Guidelines by the government allows cars to be stripped for spare parts (inc body panels and interiors) as long as the engine block and main chassis are crushed.
Dynamo? I only thought they were used on old push bikes!engine still has the dynamo!
