Has anyone been able to gain access to this or the closed beta?

If so any info on what it was like?

I really like the art style and might be interested in picking it up just usually like to confim that its gonna be worth spending the money to buy it.

Any info would be awesome thanks.

Retro.

Still under NDA. But what I will say is that the game has come on leaps and bounds over the last week or so and is starting to look really polished. Very pleased with it so far :). Not saying anymore incase I get sued ;).

Pre-order and try the open beta on Monday :)

Ooo. Lol now you really sparked my interest lol.

Hmm. I'm guessing play.com etc give the beta so I'll have a look there. If anyone else cares to add there thoughts please do.

Hmmm. I may have to blag my Gf to see if I can pre-order it.

It looks good fun. Just hoping it doesn't get old fast. Played WAR from beta and bought the collectors edition only to stop playing like a month later.

No, the game is HUGE...huge world, loads of different powers e.g. ice, fire, force, supernatural etc...you might want to pre-order soon though to make sure you get an open beta key! Special subscription offers until the end of this month also available.

Some people like the style, MANY don't. I don't, you can press a button and leave it on auto attack and take most guys down, ok that might be early game, it might get better and I might have simply been expecting something far closer to COX that I feel let down. THe starter area's feel, well, crap and having not got to what I believe is the main city area I can't really comment on that. Maybe in the open beta I'll get further but I'm not impressed, don't like the melee feel, don't like the near constant ranged attacking, not overly fond the design/style/feel of the area's though again that could change significantly in the main area's.

Dislike the interface, the quests, a lot of the sound effects, like when you finish/get a quest are just, I dunno, irritating.

Feels like it heavily suffers from oversimplification and lack of direction. Yes you can choose any powers, but that means anything deemed overpowered, almost everyone will take it no matter what "class" they intended to be. So far I've seen little in the way of "needing" a specific style of class for a group, so you might find the toon you've spent weeks/months/years on gets one power changed, becomes useless and you have to get the lastest overpowered skills, just like everyone else.

Didn't manage to play but they've apparently made it a lot harder, true or not, it was a carebare zone when I played with everything being stupidly easy.

While it was on "easy" before recently it is a lot more balanced. Now I would say it is on "hard". Remember, it is a beta for a reason!!! They have fixed sooooo many things.

Yeah, but, well, it might be closed beta, but its 3 weeks from release?

They've a week ago massively changed a fundamental way the game works in starting with energy rather than building it, its a positive change but ridiculously late in the game, and realistically it means almost every single power needs to be altered for power usage/gain which I can't imagine they've come close to doing yet. Nerfing several hugely overpowered sets, and increasing game difficultly dramatically, I can't see them getting anywhere near "balanced" by release.

THe thing that really does my head in, is nerfs, killing your character and taking the fun out of it sucks. Lotro got this right, very very well made to start with and very rarely is anything nerfed, mostly they simply buff one class to match the rest. IE if Hunter was overpowered, rather than make it worse to play, increase the other classes to match. I'd take that any day over constantly nerfing every good character you have. That winds me up no end, and huge fundamental game mechanic altering decisions like the power one being done 3 weeks from release screams to me it will be an unbalanced nerf fest for months to come.

But that aside, the problem is, I didn't find combat fun, melee alts bouncing around making girly noises with poor animations. Melee in COX, take martial arts, the moves were hard hitting, looked cool, didn't go on auto attack every 0.2seconds and the auto attack couldn't take down an enemy all on its own in a matter of seconds.

It just feels so SO far from finished, and even when finished, simply a badly designed game, but we'll see. I decided almost instantly into the closed beta on the 1st that I wouldn't pre-order, no changes have convinced me to change my mind so far. I'll try it again in the open beta but I think it will be a case of see how its doing in 2-3 months, let some nerfs, huge changes happen, try the trial and see if its any good.

Not sure what any of it says because it's in French, but it works and I'm currently preloading the game for tomorrow.

Once you have your key, go to Fileplanet and select the preorder option and put in your key.
