Champions Online Beta

Is there a torrent around for the download client ? Fileplanet is next to usless as a free download user. Beta will be over before I can get the file and have it patched up ;)
 
i just popped home at lunchtime to see if it had finished patching, low and behold it had! i was even able to pop in the game and create a character and run about a bit before i had to come back to work. will be able to give it a proper go tonight.

If it is patching slowly redownload from fileplanet. They have included all of the patches now!
 
I was in CB, gotta say OB was a troubled launch, but by about midnight, i'd loaded my huge patch of 60MB(!) and managed to get back in :D
 
I don't understand this from the news update
If you previously downloaded the game from fileplanet.com, you do not need to do so again. The latest version of our patcher will move the incorrectly installed files and not require the previously massive patch.

Where's the latest patcher?
From what I can see I do have to download again and there is no "new patcher" they talk about on fileplanet. Just a 2GB Game client. (installer/game clientt =! patcher)

after reading that news post i re-downloaded the client from fileplanet.
the patch it now wanted grab was 900mb (from 3gb)

its still downloading here, very slowly but it hasnt lost connection like the previous client
 
I downlaoded teh new client from fileplanet, it did a quick update and have been playing since the back of 2, cant say im impressed with the gfx, cant quite put my finger in what it is, almost seems plasticy?

Its comic book style...thats the point...looks great with everything maxed out...well I think it does anyway...could have more AA though.
 
Is there anyway to increase the height of the chat box? Far too small atm, can increase it lengthways though.

Quite enjoying the game, quite different from City of Heroes.

Downloaded the 280 odd mb fix, started the client, said it was patching 2,600mb - did 14% patching in about 20 seconds, now it actually seems to be downloading something. Waiting and seeing.

*edit - yup looks like its downloading the whole damn thing again. Sigh, this had better be worth it.

Not sure what to think of it - not sure I like the look of it, a bit too comic book for me!

I like being able to change where the powers come from though, like palms, fist, head, chest!
 
Yeah it's a nice touch, being able to craft some power/weapon replacements so you can wield an axe instead of sword for example or adding new effects to certain powers sounds cool also.
 
I had more fun trying to get into open beta, install and patch it than playing. I'll stick with CoH for my mindless superhero MMO fix thanks.
 
it is a bit strange, it seems to be a clone of CoH, similar missions, similar powers, similar travel powers etc etc, i guess it was supposed to be like that. graphically it's a grower but does take some getting used to, it's really busy atm, loads of people all going for the same quests and i'm not quite sure i understand the crafting malarky at the moment but that comes with time. movement seems very jerky (not graphically), it's not very smooth, it reminds me a lot of runes of magic in that sense. i also seemed to get weaker as i levelled up but i guess that's because i've not looked into character creation or have a clue what things i'm supposed to stick in my armour slots and that.
 
Well so far, so meh. But to be honest I am not that much into it, however have not seen any that I have not seen in other MMO's. WAR opening area was infinately more intersting.

The character creation is awesome, but we knew it was gonna be.

Anyway - will continue at it.

The two characters I have created so far:
