Hi all,

My girlfriend bought me a supercar experience for my 21st, you choose a venue and a car, the choices are Lambo Gallardo, Ferrari 360, Aston DB9 or an Audi R8.

Think I've made up my mind and really want to have a go in the 360! What a difficult descision to make..

Just curious really, what would everyone else go for and why?

I would choose the gallardo or the R8 personally, i doubt you will get to take it over 3000 rpm anyway so it dosent make a lot of diffrence :p

I've been in the Lambo and it was "ok" Genuinely honest here that I get more thrill out of driving my S2000 than I did in the Lambo. It felt like a fast refined BM or Audi was far too civiliaed :P

Probably nothing like the Ferrari would be like though, half the thrill from a Lambo is from being able to give it the beans, which you will not be able to fully realise on an experience day.

DB9 is a bit too common for me, at least they are 2 a penny over here. Audi R8 looks like a hell of a piece of engineering and kit and I am sure its a great drivers car but kinda in the same boat as the Lambo for me.

I'd take Ferrari out :)

Gallardo or R8 because the 360 will be pretty old. It's been discontinued for 5 years!

Maybe they'll let you drive it properly if it's older and not worth as much?

(doubt it but it would be nice if they did)

OP you're in for a world of disappointment.

Don't go there with high hopes. If you do get the push the cars ever so slightly then bonus.

Personally i'd be seeing if I could exchange for a Caterham/Elise experience.

This may be a silly question but how do they stop you from pushing them? Just with a rev limiter set absurdly low, or what?

I recently went on a track day and got to drive a Lambo Murch, F430 scud and a Porsche 997 turbo. I was allowed to properly drive them all around the track, apart from down the start/finish straight then there was a speed limit. I thought the scud was the best to drive, great performance and noise, really comfortable as well. Lambo was nice too but a little too raw for my tastes!

Agreed, I did the Caterham experience at Silverstone and it was far less restricted than the supercar experiences. Overtaking was encouraged and the aim was to go faster and faster which was great!

With dual-controls?

If not, I fail to see how they can stop me planting my hoof.

They will just ask you not to go over a certain RPM, normally upping it over each lap. I would imagine that if you do not listen they will just finish your session early.
