MMORPG Players - How many hours a day do you play?

Usualy 1-2 hours a night maybe 2-3 nights a week, then maybe a couple more on weekend if I'm not doing anything.

Beck when I was at home I've played all day up to about midnight then set my alarm to go off at 03:30 so I could meet up and trade with some U.S player while in EVE.

Pulled a 24 hour stint in WoW once as I wanted to watch the full day/night cycle, but I'm not that sad anymore :p

an hour or two a night... depends what im doing on the weekend as to how long i play for then...

i'll happily drop the game in favour of something interesting to do... i find i play it when theres not a lot going on, kills time - don't really watch TV.

you definitely not alone in that mate. Luckily i changed some things in my life and now I don't play it at all. I actually tried to go back and restart it a few weeks ago and didn't have the motivation. Guess we just move on.

Pretty much same deal here. Some positive RL changes + Blizzard turning WoW into some kind of pathetic joke of a game have "cured" me. Logged in last night to say goodbye to my guildies and online aquaintences and thats it.

depends whats been organised for that day, i dont play mmos for the sake of playing mmos i play them to enjoy them, which usually means logging on with a purpose, not like i used to where id log onto some and just stand around doing nothing.

i still play excessively, upto 4 hrs on some nights

thank good I dont play MMOs no more, I used to average 3 hours each night. Now, I am addicted to arma 2 and I play about an hour each night.

Thank god I was only addicted to CS when I was going through uni. And I didnt take my Desktop to uni either, just my laptop. Laptops back then werent made for gaming so a blessing in disguise.. If I had my pc there, i could quite easily seeing myself becoming a hermit with some of the MMORPG out now.

Didnt stop me playing CS through out the easter holidays and having to do pretty much all my dissertation the night before.

I only do maybe around 2 hours on the pc now with work. somedays I'm too tired and prefer just to chill out and watch tv or get on the rower.

Anyone else find though after playing Wow or some other mmorpg you cant just get to sleep right away, on top of that I need to wind down the brain infront of the tv or something before I can sleep.

I was an everyday WoW-addict back in 2006. I got from level 1 to 60 on a warlock in 4 months, then I saw all the instances except Naxxramas (and had everything on farm up to and including AQ20/BWL). Thankfully, I wasn't a PvP whore, so I didn't sink into the 12/18-hours-a-day trap. Let's say I was doing 3 hours a night every night unless I was going out.

3 years down the line and level 80 on the same warlock, I now play just a couple times a week with 4 IRL friends, doing the 5-man dungeons and the occasional raid with a social guild. I still enjoy the game as an addictive game but it's not a compulsive addiction any more.

Seems there are a good amount of people like me who only play when there's nothing else going on.

I think when you've gone from spending so much time in a game to the point where it's like your social circle to only logging on and playing solo for a few minutes a day, it becomes less interesting.

I still love my MMOs, I just wish there were more hours in the day.

Zero :) Use to put in 3-4 hours in the evening and 10hours/day at weekends. Best thing I ever did was getting out of MMOs.

If I'm bored I fire up Mount & Blade, although evenings these days are spent socialising and having non-MMO related fun!

Use to play from 6pm until 1am during the week and the weekend was far worse.

I stopped playing MMO's. If you have a strong competitive nature them MMO's are not for you.

Very easy to get hooked.

My name is Oxy, and I'm a recovering wow-a-holic.
I used to play WoW for around 18 hours a day 7 days a week, but this seriously damaged my life. I lost out a lot on uni grades because of it and likely damaged a relationship too.
But now I dont play at all and wquit several months ago!
I tried Eve online as a replacement but its not for me I think. so basically now I spend my spare time on single player games which tend to bore me after completion.
What do other people do in life after wow?

As a PS. Most of my friends are home from uni for the summer so I dont have any mates around to go out with, so its not that I dont have a social life, just not a local one!

About 7-8 hours a day when I aint on shift, WoW, currently rep grinding for a Nether Drake as the summer hols have meant our raiding has stopped untill Aug/Sep when people come back.

the 3 months i played guild wars seriously i racked up an average of 8 hours a day, i was so disgusted when i worked that out that i quit there and then (well, about 2 weeks after :p)

this was while working 16 hours a week, going to college full time (which also entailed travelling up to 3 hours a day) i was only sleeping a couple hours a night, it was awful :(

Zero. Stopped playing MMOs when I realised the stupid amount of time I had dumped into them (which I don't even want to begin to quantify, ignorance is bliss). I feel sick to the pit of my stomach when I think about all the time I frittered away doing menial and pointless crap, like farming reagents and so on in WoW. Thankfully I don't play anymore these days, and have substituted MMO's with other hobbies.

I mostly just play the odd bit of TF2 and L4D these days and console games for my single player fix since my gaming PC is a bit of a dog.

Same as really, if you're into RPG's in general, then you will get forced to the dark side :D

Be careful!

I began going back to the gym to lose all the weight I had gained. Before I started playing WoW (near end of 2005) I was 11.6 stone. When I quit WoW a few months ago I had just hit 15 stone. It was around then I had a real think to myself what I was doing.

I would finish work and my mind would tell me "must get straight home to make it for raid tonight" I could never casually take my time to get home or goto the Cinema if it was a raid night - just incase something happend in my favour and I might not be there.

When I first quit its a shock how much more free time you have, but if you set something to take up that time you settle back into reality and this whole WoW thing becomes a thing of the past.

Dont think selling your WoW account helps you quit, I did this twice and went back twice. My last account I haven't sold and don't really have any intention to this time round.

BTW. Think of the gym as your WoW char and think what a few months can do (Its a lot trust me) a year later you could transform your body, 2 years, 3 years you could be where ever you want.

Thats what keeps me busy now. Planning to get back to my old shape and improving my body past that.

I am married and spend time doing other things but I think being so determined to lose the weight I gained is my first motivation. Its also nice finishing work and not having to rush home or deal with in game drama.

all these horror stories of addiction make me cringe.
been playing WoW since the closed Beta, never got "addicted"
when i look out how much time i put into it, i realise its just time id have spent watching tv anyway.
self control isnt that hard
