Isnt Wolfenstein Released today???

I was surprised to see the release date at this time in the year.....it's a bit early for the Autumn release crunch and makes me wonder if they knew it was a bit sub-par.

Given the range of opinions here though, I'll have to play it before forming a judgement. I loved the setting and story of the last game, so maybe I'll be able to forgive the worse parts.

The voice acting is so horrible that no matter how good the story was the characters do not gain any depth at all :/

Demo (if one comes out though I doubt it will) or let it drop right down in price me thinks atm.

I'm a ways into it now and I'd advise waiting. IMO, it's well worth playing but not worth paying full price for.

If the movement was more like COD4 for example, I'd say it'd be worth playing now.

Could also be that I'm less picky than a lot of people here. I wasn't expecting the game to top all games.. just a bit of entertainment to keep me occupied for a while and it provides that.

I thought the movement was pretty similar to COD4.

I'm further through the storyline and I must admit i'm not bothered by graphics, i've been pc gaming on a computer that handles everything on all low just about for so long that i expect it to look bad

The voice acting is awful, and I dont find myself wanting to play the game to learn more of the storyline. I still keep on playing it, though and I will play my way through the singleplayer.

Best thing that could happen for this game would be for it to be released on steam and then put in one of the weekend deals.

Disable vsync and have terrible tearing, then the movement is fine

have any of you tried changing the frame rate cap in the options? it was set to 60 for me i just stuck it as high as i could and never tried on the lower settings.

movement feels fine to me

Im not, raven software made the sp of the game, theyve not had anything to shout about in years, their last outing qwth quake 4 wasnt exactly earth shatering either.

It looks and plays almost identical to the COD games, even down to the bronze star on top of the nav map/compass. I've only played a few minutes of the opening mission but the gameplay is almost identical to COD - checkpoints at irregular intervals (no save as you go) and if you stay in one place too long the tedious grenade spamming which had me tearing out my hair in COD2/4/5. No way to build up a stealth attack or collect your thoughts. Even your "death2 animation is the same with the 45 degree angle blood misted view fading out.

I thought this was going to be a veritable replacement for Doom or Quake (especially as Quake 4 won't work on Vista) but first thoughts are it's just COD5 with different skins.

I think it looks and runs pretty good!

Just another mindless FPS which is exactly what I expected it to be!
Not really bothered about MP but the SP is OK for a quick blast!

What gets me the most is that when you die you just suddenly appear lieing on the floor, no animation to show a person falling to the floor!!!!!!!!

Do you mean RTCW on the PC? Or the pre-Doom one?

On the RTCW PC there are full animations as you fall to the ground, but on Wolfenstein 2009 you just appear on the floor.

This game is feels like an unfinished beta, just packaged up.

Not sounding great is it...

See it appeared as if from nowhere and I read a PCZ preview ages ago and they pretty much summed it up from their pros and cons in the preview for me so thats why I was of the poistion of the game turning out to be pretty average and it would seem to be the correct position to take.
