Decided to give this a watch, it really is one hell of a "Drama", just finished ep 7, enjoying it so far.

God damn it the ending ruined it for me. It was a good ending and all but...

don't you just hate it when stories don't turn out the way you want them to?

Yeah, the ending was ok, but could have been handled a bit better even with keeping the ending they went with.

I liked it! :) So much so i have ordered the 2 box sets from the rain forest :)

Yep, I quite the series too .. I have the R1 brick boxset.

Still only watched about half of ergo proxy, need to finish it one day. It reminds me of i robot film and other similar films.

I loved Ergo Proxy because of its similarities to iRobot etc. It had a very deep psychological story line and it made me love it even more the fact that Re-l looks like Amy Lee. Well worth the watch!

Just got back from Ayacon today, that was an interesting weekend. The skill of some peoples craftsmanship with costumes is fantastic.

Picked up A: The Animation and The Natural while i was there aswell as Planetes. Im finding the former a great little series, nice and laid back and it doesn't take itself to seriously. Great to sit down and unwind to.

Just binged on all of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, utterly phenomenal series. The kind which you just have to keep watching no matter how late it gets just to see how the story will play out. I loved how it started off as a cutesy harem type thing but got progressively more sinister within each story arc. A very, very satisfying ending as well, but with still room for more arcs in the future.

Just started watching Umineko now I've finished Higurashi, doesn't seem nearly as good and is a lot more confusing but I shall stick with it, as according to those who've played the game it all makes sense in the end.

So the Endless Eight arc has finished in Haruhi. I heard the ending was quite good too, people were saying it was worth the 8 episode wait lol.
No it wasn't, the whole E8 arc sucked ass. 8 epsiodes of the same thing again and again with a slight difference at the end of epsiode 9. I almost threw my cat at the screen.

What i have seen so far:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Full Metal Alchemist
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Tenchi Muyo
All Studio Ghibli Movies
Ghost in the Shell (All TV series and both movies)
Cowboy Bebop
Chobits (much better than i thought, not pervy at all, amazing music as well)
Gurren Lagann
DearS
Excel Saga (WTF!?!?!!)
Death Note

What i have on my 'watch' list:
Scrapped Princess
Full Metal Alchemist: Botherhood (which is essentaily a remake of the original series)
Ah! My Goddess
Ergo Proxy
Spice and Wolf

I must get round to watching EP, as people keep saying it's good (including my non anime fan brother), but i keep forgetting.

Aye memyselfandI, apparently it's possibly to co-incide with the release of Ponyo in the cinema or something :(

On a semi related note, i'm on an anime diet for a bit, no new DVD's other than my current pre-orders for at least a couple of months (I've just spent rather a lot on a new airbrush and compressor).

:( .... although I do have the R2(J) release to keep me going ...

Watched disk 1 of Genshiken 2 earlier .... nice to have this continuing although you do need to watch the OVA episodes included with Kujibiki Unbalance in order to link season 2 with season 1.

Disk 4 (it's not disk 4 it's season 2 disk 1!) of Ah! My Buddha next ...

I've been cutting back quite a bit to on new stuff (and hence dealing a bit with my backlog) ... due to changes at work my income has decreased by ~20% due to lack of oncall and overtime but my job role has changed now which should eventually lead to a grade change and hopefully that should mean a pay rise eventually .... do have some pre-orders in over the next few months at the moment but I'm trying to limit them to £50-60 a month so my list of things I want has risen quite a bit :(

(edit: odd but the forum managed to "forget" my subscription to this thread?)

Just started watching Ergo Proxy on the strength of some of the things I've read here, good so far :)

+1 for OcUK anime community!

Ergo Proxy is without a doubt one of the best anime I have ever seen. It has a philosophical depth I have never found in any other series, and it is incredibly well researched.

Just started watching Spice an Wolf, what an incredably charming anime! I know series 2 is currently being shown, does anyone know if this will conclude the story? I hate animes that drag on forever (one piece for example)

Another thing that erks me about animes is the amount of time from one series to another. it's normally 2-3 years! that's why i like self contained stories that already done or are only 12-24 episodes, hence i am careful what i pick to watch, it's the reason why i've given up on Tenchi OVA, 3 years for another 6 epsiodes? give over!!

Given that it's still airing at the moment I don't think anyone will know if series 2 will end Spice and Wolf ... I suspect whether it does or not will depend on whether they think they can continue to make money of it, personally I suspect there will be at elast a couple of OVAs.

On a related note pre-ordered Spice and Wolf and Bamboo Blade Part 1 from the TRSI Funimation sale the other day, (both for release at the end of November).

Has spice and wolf have the english dub? I don't mind english dub as i miss half the animation that's going on because i'm reading all the time. Also spice and wolf goes quite deep into economics and they talk really fast. so i get confused often and have to rewind a bit

Well they've announced a cast for it so I assume they are producing a dub.

First season of Spice and Wolf is already licensed, so it's just a matter of time for when it will be released with the dubs i.e. end of November time as it seems. Spice and Wolf II is still airing in Japan right now and will probably a get licensed dub release sometime next year. As for if the second season will conclude the story, well we don't know. The original Light Novel series is still ongoing though.

And depends on what series you are watching, whether it is something that is new and just aired, or one that has already been completed and on sale. If you are on about a series that has multiple seasons and when the new one will air, most of the time it's between 6 months to 1 year or more from when the first ended and the new one will start, although it also just depends itself. Generally most major full season 24+ episode Anime series will start either around Spring (April) or Autumn (October).

Really? Maybe I've watched too much subtitled stuff but I can do both at the same time. I can practically read subtitles in my peripheral vision lol.
