A loan for how much? What's your maximum budget, why even make a thread when you don't even know what the max amount is that you want to spend.

He had £5k, but could get a loan for £10k, so £15k. But now he has £10k. Or something, and wants to do this to avoid spending £1k fixing his car.

I could go as high as £15k if needed. £10k should buy a nice car.

Would you honestly spend over £1k fixing a car thats worth £2k? I have been thinking about changing for a while.

These look great inside, trouble is the 3.0 is slow and the 4.3 is a bit heavy on fuel.

Tempting though, will road TAX be crazy high on these?

At 220 odd horsepower I wouldn't exactly call the 3.0 slow. I struggle to see how we're going to get you something significantly faster with going over your fuel requirement?

If speed is a concern there is always the Aristo, same car, just with the same 320BHP Twin Turbo unit they stick in the MKIV Supra ;).

My brother has a Supra, it does 12mpg, no thanks lol.

The GS300 I looked at said 0-60 in 8.2, the newer ones seem to be quicker but are more like £12k and I'd be worried it will depreciate badly.

It's not worth 2k now, it's worth about £900, if you can sell it that is.

Gosh that really is nasty. Dont know whats worse, the random collection of no-name tyres, the shabby looking brake calipers, the fact he's casually hidden away the fact its a Category C writeoff or the deadful interior with shiney leather.

Haven't you heard of Bridgestone? There seems to be a matching pair of those at the front. That does however look rubbish and it appears to be parked in some sort of housing estate, instant snob alarm goes off there.

I know it isn't worth £2k now, I meant working.

I would be happy to take £900 for it to save the hassle of repairing it.

Lose £1,000 and lots of effort selling it, or, lose £500 (assuming the total repair is £15,000) if you get it repaired as you'll actually have a sell able car worth market value, if not more with the new engine.

So its utterely silent as you drove around at 30mphish over bumps and stuff?

My car has been lowered so i can't do 30mph over big bumps. Speed bumps can be a nightmare! :p

But no, it's doesn't make any strange noises.

God bless Toyota!

Well it is obvious from reading most of the thread that recommending an ST220 is a big no no, which is indeed the most logical choice for the criteria given, thus I suggest a Jaguar X Typre 3 litre V6 :) ...same sort of size (well a tad smaller actually), comfortable, better interior, pretty decent turn of pace, reasonable running costs, although a bit more than the ST220 and 4 wheel drive to boot.

Lets see how deep the Ford 'hatred' really goes shall we :D
