Actually, Paul has very kindly offered to help me out and we're just down the road from each other which is sooo convenient. I think I've convinced him I'm not an escaped convict that he has to worry about and am quite a normal chap. :D

Lol, I just want to place my order! And now I'm getting told to upgrade the gpu, and get a new cooler. Can someone please tell me if I need a cooler and which one. ;)

But I'm excited now that I decided to hand my money over! :D I'm one of these people that wants everything yesterday once I've made my mind up, heh. No, you're absolutely right and I have been posting like mad here picking the brains of members, you've all been superb. I will get a cooler. Just curious though, with the stock phenom 550 cooler v an aftermarket, we're talking quite a difference in temperature, like 45c v 50c+ or something?

I took a look but that seems to be for an intel board. Don't I need an AMD cooler? :confused:
 
£471 order complete! I get delivery on tuesday. :D

PS. I bought 1GB HIS 4870 as recommended. Didn't bother with aftermarket cooler though as many have said it's not necessary unless O/Cing.
 
Heres what I would go for based off your spec -

I dont have any experience with that HIS GPU, but the reference heatsink design on the 4870's is horribly loud so hopefully this will be better - might be wrong though, and thinking about it this doesnt actually remove the heated air from the case so you might want to upgrade it again.

EDIT: damn, a bit late lol. ur right the aftermarket cooler isnt necessary.

My goodness, there's me in finchley central, you in north finchley, and Paul in another part of finchley. We could start a finchley OCuK club. :D

Well, I don't know what to say, I'm delighted there are so many cool people here willing to build this pc for me. I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for free, I definitely like to offer something for your efforts. Aod, thanks a lot mate. As it happens, Paul 11 already offered to do it for me so if he's around on tuesday I'll pop round to his place. Otherwise if something comes up and he can't do it, is it ok to contact you via msn or even in this thread?
