So I've put together everything I want, and am ready to hand over the money. Not too bothered anymore waiting 3 months for possible free delivery as I was going to originally. I want it and I want it now, lol. This is it in the screenshot, but..

I just rang ocUK and spoke to someone and asked him how much will it cost if they put it together for me and I was told they don't do that, I can only buy one of their pre-built systems. Hmm, was hoping they would, I really don't want to be fiddling with installing some of this stuff and not sure how good a local shop will be. Any suggestions other than do it myself? :p Also at bottom of screenshot, it says 'DPD Next Day Parcel (This can be changed during checkout)', but the guy told me there is only the DPD shipping, no other. I was thinking maybe there's a cheaper shipping option for waiting a few days instead of next day delivery.

malc30 and DireEmblem - Well, I've been pretty decent at installing and uninstalling my current components in my old case like gpu, drives and heatsinks, but I dunno, never installed a motherboard and cpu and don't feel very confident, I just kind of wanted it built to a higher standard than I could do.

Ross1234 - Yep, that's fair enough about delivery.

Souleh - I spoke to 2 shops the other day nearby. One wanted £70, the other says £20. So I guess I could go with the £20.

WalesOwl - that's what I was thinking, was hoping not to need a cooler. I'm not overclocking anyway, at least, I doubt it. Haven't got a clue how to do that and don't think I'll need to.

rexehuk - I'm in north london, I'll happily pay you to build this for me once I receive the package. I've got a tube I've been using of Akasa silver 450:

Do you rate this paste, do you know if it's in the same league as arctic silver?

I personally used Artic Silver on my 4400+ rig a few years ago, thought it was good. This time around on my i7 I was lazy and used the noctua paste provided to me... there seems to be agreements and disagreements on whether the investment in artic silver is worth it etc. I imagine your Akasa paste would suffice for the AMD chip, the one thing I WOULD say to change is the stock cooler, one which someone could recommend here as I'm not too familiar with the best cooling devices for amd based processors.

Ok, we'll stick with the akasa paste for now. So the stock cooler is not going to keep my cpu very cool then? Can someone recommend a cooler? How about any of the ones mentioned here, this is a configurator for the same phenom 550

Hi paul, I'm online and I got your 'Yo' and I'm sending you replies, I think you've gone offline.

All sorted :)

D D Danneh - lol, I'll make the tea and sandwiches. Everyones hands will be inside the computer case, it'll look like an operating theatre. :p

Actually, Paul has very kindly offered to help me out and we're just down the road from each other which is sooo convenient. I think I've convinced him I'm not an escaped convict that he has to worry about and am quite a normal chap. :D

I have nothing to add, other than I think that is actually a very nice spec for the money

Thanks. Gonna order it right now, just need final confirmation on cpu cooler or not, and if so, which one to order ?

Lol, I just want to place my order! And now I'm getting told to upgrade the gpu, and get a new cooler. Can someone please tell me if I need a cooler and which one. ;)

yeh you do need a cooler.

take your time with this. you'll regret buying bits without getting advice here first :)

But I'm excited now that I decided to hand my money over! :D I'm one of these people that wants everything yesterday once I've made my mind up, heh. No, you're absolutely right and I have been posting like mad here picking the brains of members, you've all been superb. I will get a cooler. Just curious though, with the stock phenom 550 cooler v an aftermarket, we're talking quite a difference in temperature, like 45c v 50c+ or something?

Merlin, you have an ample case on your shopping list, so I'd go for a Freezer Pro 7. I've got it with my overclocked bundle (Q8400 @ 3.2GHz) and highest temps on load so far is 45C :-)

I took a look but that seems to be for an intel board. Don't I need an AMD cooler?

£471 order complete! I get delivery on tuesday. :D

PS. I bought 1GB HIS 4870 as recommended. Didn't bother with aftermarket cooler though as many have said it's not necessary unless O/Cing.

hey Merlin5, i live in north finchley (just off tally-ho corner) i'd build your PC for you for free if you'd like :)

<edit> and Tuesday's goog for me! :D

My goodness, there's me in finchley central, you in north finchley, and Paul in another part of finchley. We could start a finchley OCuK club. :D

Well, I don't know what to say, I'm delighted there are so many cool people here willing to build this pc for me. I wouldn't expect anyone to do it for free, I definitely like to offer something for your efforts. Aod, thanks a lot mate. As it happens, Paul 11 already offered to do it for me so if he's around on tuesday I'll pop round to his place. Otherwise if something comes up and he can't do it, is it ok to contact you via msn or even in this thread?

Heh, of course. Paul likes wine and I said I'd buy him some, or if someone else ends up doing it and wants beer, yep, no problemo. ;)

hi guys..

although im happy to build it for you if you want, i was actually going to show you and supervise you building it yourself. you will get much more satisfaction knowing you built it and having someone there to help on any tricky bits.

give a man a fish , and all that ;)

hey aod, another finchleyan..

Are you around on tuesday, paul? I'm due to receive this on that day (how is okUK for getting stuff delivered on the day they say, good?) and if you're around, since you offered to build it first, I'd still be delighted for you to help me do it, I quite like the idea of me doing it with supervision. If it's a tricky day for you, aod has offered as you can see. I don't want to upset anyone though going back and forth between you two good fellas. :)

I know, great place.

Heh, nah, I'm only jesting, loads of great towns aren't there. ;)

Well, having watched a few youtube vids today of fitting mobos, I have a better understanding and I've decided to have a go myself initially and see how far I get. :)

My bad Merlin. I wasn't paying attention.

No worries monserrat. As it happens, I just rang OC before they shipped my order and asked them to add a GPU cooler, so I'm getting the Akasa Vortex cooler sent which I'll get tomorrow. Also changed the PSU to a 700w OCZ. :)
May do a CPU cooler later.
