Samsung i7500 (Android)

Uhh... read my post properly? If yes then you would notice where I was coming from... :/

But well, thanks kam187. I see that Android has no problems with memory management, unlike WM6, or that well, the apps are written better in general.

Did you read my post properly?;) note the word 'everybody'.

"Everybody" included me, so I went on to clarify why exactly I wanted to know such a thing. :)

I notice that German webshobs don't seem to be fans of credit/debit cards... Cash on delivery... pre-payment... *stalls his plans for a while*

It's for pre-order on a few UK sites now with release next week, the jersey based shop has it for £500 :o mine hasn't arrived from Germany yet, can't work out which code from the tracking number to use or where to use it :/

Cool:) Do yo know what forums might take advantage/mod it?

This is the only guy I can see that's trying to do anything so far:

Looks like it is just drivers/support for the onboard bluetooth.

No, its the source for the kernel and the drivers. That's the part that's different between devices. It would have been nice if they gave us the system image source too, but you could make that up from the android git i guess.

Ahh, you are right, I didn't look in the BSP folder

i remember when the samsung omnia came out, i look for sim free and it was £550 when it first came out. i wonder if the difference is the licensing of the OS which makes a difference.

Sometimes that makes a difference, but licensing WM for example isnt anywhere near as much as people think it is! Its always a marketing decision to price phones.

mine arrived last night at 8:30, we have weird couriers round me. It's not connecting to data at the moment which is a bit rubbish :/ all good other than that so far

Any word when i can get my hands on one in a shop though? I really want to sell my Touch HD and get an android phone but I want to try the phone before i buy. I have tried the Hero and its is very nice but want to try this samsung phone as it seems to be very good too, specially the screen. Also i have read that as the screen isn't capative that it won't be able to do the multitouch when the Android update comes along, is this true?

anyone got somewhere i can download the pc studio that will work with the i7500? I've left the CD at home and I want to play at work, the only one I've found to download installed symbian drivers so I don't think it's right

What data doesnt work? Did you put the APN in? (sorry if it sounds like a stupid question :P )

It is capacitive. Multitouch isnt enabled in the driver at the moment. Read more here:

Eclair (2.0) is suposed to enable native multitouch support on Android, so they'll fix it by then.

Also the Samsung has a proximity sensor so it turns off the screen when you hold it next to your face, and back on again when you move it away to press a key. Hero doesnt have that and you have to press the unlock key to wake the screen up.
