Glass pint glasses to be replaced with plastic

That wouldn't make a difference. I was in a bar a few years ago with a group of friends and some woman who was arguing with an off duty police officer started throwing our empty glasses across the room at her. She hadn't actually had anything to drink in the bar and we'd caused no problems, clearly she shouldn't have been around glass :rolleyes:.

The idiots who attack others with glasses should be banned, not the glasses.
 
ive been glassed on the forehead as i was trying to defend a friend in trouble. was a nasty incident. like others said it should depend on the place, rough areas/clubs have plastic and trendy bars/rural areas can use glass. basically any place where more then 2 chavs reside should have plastic as this dirty tactic is primarily used by them. even after being glassed and left with scars i still would like to drink from a glass in some sort of respectable establishment.

Maybe because hundreds if not thousands of people are glassed and bottled every month in the U.K producing horrific injuries resulting many times in life long physical and psychological damage :rolleyes:
I too prefer drinking from a nice glass but am willing to put up and get used to the slight annoyance of drinking from polycarbonate if it means some poor innocent sod aint gonna have to live the rest of his life with a horrific scar on his face!!
 
The home office: Idiots with a lack of any clue.

While skimming through the responses on this thread I see that others also understand and acknowledge what most pubs already do around the UK.

Tip to the home office: When the big hand goes on the number 7 it is time to change to plastic. Makes me laugh they have the stats of where these glassing take place, I don't have the stats but I can say for sure they happen in built up areas and inner cities.

:( A horrible thing to do to someone. Awhile ago at my local I was about ten feet from the bar when some guy got glassed directly in the the face, all because he pushed in front for last orders:rolleyes:.
 
Sure beer can taste shoddy from plastic (better from polycarb though imo), but if it meant one less person gets harmed who would otherwise have been glassed, I'll happily make that sacrifice. It would be selfish not to.

At the same time I don't think the initiative is the answer, with the real problem stemming from excessive drinking and people generally being a bit radge. It's a reasonable temporary measure though.
 
What is UK coming to!! Between pc bull crap, human rights nonsese and general "we sorry for the empire" Now this. Soon the pound will be scraped and Christmas cancelled to please the arabs.

Because the store is free to set whatever conditions of sale they want, provided it doesn't discriminate on prohibited factors (eg race, gender or disability).

They could not serve you because they think your beard looks stupid, because you have ginger hair, or because they don't like your clothing.

Why is that difficult to understand?

and and... we can put wine in plastic bottles, if it means one less person getting glassed, I'll happily make that sacrifice. It would be selfish not to.
 
Instead of forcing us to use plastic why don't the pubs stop serving alcohol to drunk peeps, I have never seen a drink being refused to a druk person, not even when they couldn't even speak normally anymore.
 
Reminds of when Coca Cola first started selling in cans rather than glass bottles. People bitched and complained, "oh it's not proper coke unless it's from a glass bottle". A few years ago they re-introduced the bottles along side the cans, everyone stuck to the cans and complained about the taste from the bottles :confused:

I prefer it from the bottles, but I don't carry a bottle opener around with me
 
If someone can produce a type of plastic that actually feels nice to drink from and doesn't spoil the taste of good beer with subtle tastes, I don't see a problem. On the other hand, I've had to drink the likes of Carling, Fosters, Stella from plastic glasses loads of times at events, festivals etc and to be frank I can't tell the difference.

Dunno why they don't use those ones you see in US tv shows where they just twist off the lid.
