Glass pint glasses to be replaced with plastic

Because the store is free to set whatever conditions of sale they want, provided it doesn't discriminate on prohibited factors (eg race, gender or disability).

But since it is their policy and not the law I'm well within my rights to complain to the store management about their policy ... which is what I do .

Or you could just not shop there, which will have a much greater impact than moaning and whinging to someone who can't actually change the policy.

The money is always more valuable than the words to the people that actually make the decisions.

But store policy is usually decided much higher up, store managers of chain shops won't have any power to change policy. Write to their head office if you want to complain.

I leave it up to the store management to pass on my complaint to the relevent part of the company

Reminds of when Coca Cola first started selling in cans rather than glass bottles. People bitched and complained, "oh it's not proper coke unless it's from a glass bottle". A few years ago they re-introduced the bottles along side the cans, everyone stuck to the cans and complained about the taste from the bottles

What kind of heathen prefers cans to glass bottles?

Only reason more don't buy the glass bottles is price.

I get asked for ID incessantly (at supermarkets, not pubs), even though I'm 26, and for someone who doesn't drive and isn't in the habit of carrying his passport round with him, it all too often means I lose out on booze :/. Thing is though, I don't actually care too much. It's their job, it makes sense, and it's just poor luck on my part.

I won't if it's out of plastic and I'm sure a lot of the CAMRA members would agree with me!
So your part of the campaign for real ale is contributing to more pubs getting shut down, thus depriving micro-breweries of income? Awesome!

I didn't say that I'm just predicting that this is what will happen I'm sure the CAMRA members will still support their pubs but their visits to the pub will decrease therefore income for the pubs will fall making it harder for them to stay open.

What is UK coming to!! Between pc bull crap, human rights nonsese and general "we sorry for the empire" Now this. Soon the pound will be scraped and Christmas cancelled to please the arabs.

Yes. Yes. Soon we wil not be aloud to say what we hinnk and they will not let us do hate crimes and the daily mail will be shut down and everyone will have to eat tofu annd be gay and muslim. Truly we are the only ones who see cleary. What has happened to this country. Human rights is such bull to, people being free and equal in dignity and rights goes against everything i and this country stand for. arabs are not equal, they are foreign and i dont know any and because i have never had a normal conversation with one i must resort to stereotypes when i imagine them. i basically have the terrified, xenophobic attitude of a medieval peasant, cultivated with the tawdry manipulative catchphrases of the right-wing press, written by cynical little people who only benefit from the hatred and ignorance. I have never heard of the enlightenment. I have never read a book. The bnp are the only political entity which really know whats like going on in this country, they have the best interests of everyone who matters at heart.

Godwin's law is made to protect people like you.

The trouble is, the idea of a putting a blanket ban on something just because it could be used as a weapon doesn't sit well. I can't imagine it working without leaping to absurdities like banning people from growing their nails long.

And a ban on wearing workshoes with steel tips, ban on rings, ban on watches, ban on big buttons on shirts and not to forget high heels.

Come on get real, fight the problem at the roots and stop enforcing laws that hurt millions and don't solve the problem.

Talk about nanny state... 'lets take these dangerous glass object away from them before they hurt themselves'

Personally I think there should be a compromise. You must use plastic if you serve alcohol past 8pm, or you are likely to serve football fans on a match day. That way, it at least means you can have a glass during the day.
This is pretty much the rules where I work, all the time it is no glass outside, although it's only really enforced at weekends, and on match days or if there's an event on at the MEN (it's only just around the corner) then it's plastic for everyone, we get a lot of complaints about it but it's an agreement between the brewery, the landlord, the doorstaff and the police. It makes everyone's life easier and is one of the many reasons the police don't pay much attention to us compared to other local pubs because they know we're proactive in preventing trouble.

:

get yourself a provisional license don't need to drive or take any tests to get one.

problem solved.

regarding the ID thing, what's the point in taking offence at being asked for ID? it should just reassure you that the staff aren't going to be serving underage drinkers. If you 100% look old enough, then you won't ever be asked, expect to look about 30 for this to happen though, it's almost never a negative thing to have a form of ID on your person

Some supermarkets ie Morrison's decided to always id people no matter how old.

But when their license makes them hundreds of thousands (millions?) and losing it would cripple a store and the police would just love to get a supermarket as an example, it's understandable.

yeah I know the stories, along with the buying alcohol while with a minor (even if it's a baby) but as a general rule the above applies, there's no reason to get uppitty about being asked for ID, although that said above a certain age I think the seller should employ common sense

I've got about four provisional license applications lying round my house somewhere, I just never quite seem to finish them off. God knows why. (It's because I'm a lazy sod)

You said "I'm not drinking in any pub with plastic cups and I'm sure other CAMRA members will feel the same" didn't you?

EDIT: Yes, yes, you did:

Don't be melodramatic, people will still go to pubs and drink beer like they have done for centuries.

I won't if it's out of plastic and I'm sure a lot of the CAMRA members would agree with me!

my lack of grammer and scentance structure made me put accross the wrong point and I aplogise for that but I still believe Business for pubs will fall

I don't think its fair to be honest ... making everyone suffer because of the few drunken idiots out there who do start fights and glass people. They'd be better off banning them not the glasses.
