If she just sold a 2007 Mondeo, she should have a bit more to play with than £4k. Unless she's been ripped off big time.

So negotiating may not be her strong pointIf she just sold a 2007 Mondeo, she should have a bit more to play with than £4k. Unless she's been ripped off big time.

Seriously though, money could well have gone to other things, like credit cards or something and £4k is what's left.
I've heard a few people say that the honda 2.2 cdti is a very good engine, and not just for a diesel. What's the interior and drive like compared to it's ford or vw counterparts?Civic cdti?
Ford Ka.Needs to be comfortable
Reliable (will be doing 15-20k possibly more a year)
At least do 40mpg on motorways
Respectable
Can be either petrol or diesel

I can recommend the megane. I have owned a 1.9 DCi which I have been really impressed with. The DCi engine is made by nissan and is a very responsive for a diesel. I suspect mine may have had a remap.
Mine is coming up to 90k on the clock and I have had no trouble with it what so ever.
How about something a bit more leftfield - an Alfa Romeo 147?
Eh? Are you nuts???
He's asked for a comfortable car to do about 20k a year in.
No.
I think you missed out where it was for a female, I know many that buy ridiculous cars for motorway mileage!
