Spa-Francorchamps - BELGIUM Grand Prix 2009 - Race 12/17

I think a wet race is what's needed to get Button into the points.

That could also make the Brawn worse - and also while that would slow everyone down, not 100% sure that would help so far back (being stuck in the pack, that would just allow Fisi or whoever in the lead to disappear and let everyone else contend with spray

Damn - I didn't think Rubens would be that light... I still think Fisi has a decent chance for the win, if he puts a nice distance between himself and P2.

you lot are incredible - after one bad race and one bad quali you completely right Jenson off

Indeed, Jenson is still very likely to win the championship and deserve it too. Has anyone ever lost it with 6 race wins and he's been the most consistent driver this year, scoring at every race (only person to do so).

The field is so tight now, with any of half a dozen cars able to win, I don't think anyone is going to be able to overhaul his lead unless he has a run of bad luck. A few DNFs is the only thing that can stop Jenson winning I think.

Really not sure how the myth that RBR are so good in the wet comes from - what from 1 race when they did well!?

he can't believe it, I can't believe it. Force India on poll.

What were the odds on that 1million to one.

I backed Sutil at 100/1 because I just felt they were going to do it after impressing in practice.

I'm spitting bloody feathers, right car, wrong driver.:mad::mad:

Both races with standing water, plus Vettel and Webber are considered wet weather specialists.

I remember Anthony Davidson saying that RBR actually have a non-linear increase in aerodynamic grip from the profile of wet tyres. All cars apparently increase in aerodynamic performance with the wet weather tyre profile.

I expect Rosberg, the BMWs, the Toyotas and Fisi to all drop back from where they are through the race, with Button, Alonso and Hamilton making up plenty of positions through it. (Particularly Hamilton with his straight line speed)

I'm backing Kimi for the win, and Badoer for last. lol

You know I can see Kimi taking this one from there. He should jump a couple of places at the start, probably up to 4th, and then he's got fuel on Fisi, and as for Trulli and Heidfeld.... well.... "Choo Choo!"

Give this man a medal :D

Hahaha, what for? Hammy, Button and Alonso just arnt fast enough to really push on (mainly for looking worse for wear in the middle part of the lap), given a pile up or some rain though then they will be in pretty much the same place as everyone else (apart from fisi who will be praying for rain to scamper off in front with everyone ramming each other behind...) :D

Yes but Button/Brawn won the very wet race, I dont know its just funny how these myths self perpetuate. Supposedly Button was a wet specialist because he won in Hungary. Not sure how Webber attained that accolade, he hadnt won anything before a few races ago.

Can't wait for tomorrow! This is exactly what I was saying the other day about the season being unpredictable. Who on earth is going to win? Not a clue.

From recent memory:

China this year, Vettel 1st and Webber 2nd. Very wet race.

Fuji last year, Webber and Vettel were in podium positions before Vettel rear ended Webber in the final laps behind the safety car. Very wet race.

Monza last year, Vettel won his first race with Torro Rosso. Again, rain affected.

When you're in a good position and your car is working well in the conditions any F1 driver can be a wet specialist.

It's pretty bizarre how these titles and rumours start up. Everything in F1 is explainable. Even that time that Schumacher did like 20 qualifying laps in the race, back to back. Schumacher admitted in an interview that it was only possible because his car was working and wasn't cooking the tyres.
