Are you proud of Britain??

Why do people keep slating Brown or 'the government' when they/we put them there? ...... how about coming up with an alternative instead of just the usual ****?!

Can you tell me who elected Brown to be PM? I don't remember being asked to vote for Tony's replacement. The next election will be a massive shock.

OK, given the standard of English language used in this thread, I can see that many posters can't even present themselves as being able to communicate in their native tongue let alone have any intelligent input.!

And who's fault is this?

surely not the posters, but the education this country "prides" itself on....the education we/parents now have to pay for!

Look, I'm not having a go, but your post was not a constructive one, just a negative approach to these forums. Posters are just having their say.

If you don't like what/who is there, change it! ....... stop expecting someone else to do it all for you and take a part in society!

Change it to what? they are all as bent / corrupt as each other.
There is no choice that stands out from the crowd

+1

They (government) wonder why the voting turnout drops every year, they tried to make it easier for us for example voting online, but no one cares who gets in now, they are all the same.

Who has the time to vote when the Mr & Mrs work more than 40hrs a week each, just to survive and then need to tend to their children once the working day has ended.

Really this country needs to get a grip, and fast!

And to the posters above me mentioning chavs, this community is fast approaching, I bet every poster in here knows a street near them that has these type of people? I bet no one knew what a chav was 10 years ago.....its a growing community

This type of community "chav" is going to dominate this country.....

You realise that people are communicating on an informal basis when on a message board, right? Unless it's illegible then it's irrelevant.

Haven't read the topic but to answer the OP, yes I'm proud of Britain and am proud to be British. We have an epic history and nobody messes with us, for a small island nation we've done bloody well.

And do you know why no one messes with us?

becasue OCUK have some of the best prices in the world.........;)

just thought I'd had a bit of humor to the thread!

I don't like the following aspects of britain:

1) Chavs - who likes chavs? they are despicable.
2) Jeremy Kyle -related to 1)
3) too much immigration, I'm no racist but we should really only allow people into the country who bring something to the table.
4) benefits to people who do NOT deserve them - this to me is a big problem and it will only get worse unless something is done. People claiming benefits earning more than people who work, leading to people who work leaving their jobs to claim benefits instead.
5) Population. One day we will have too many people living in this country, population will expand exponentially I can't see it being sustainable in the long term (100-200 years down the line)
6) Public spending going into useless things that no one needs, sort out the health care systems and public transport before spending millions on statues etc
7) political correctness gone insane - I have seen some ridiculous examples of this

People didn't vote for Tony Blair last election, they voted for the Labour Party. That means they can chuck whoever they want to up there, as long as they represents that party.

I am proud to be English, I am not proud of the current state of our country.

It could be worse, I could be living in the third world, or living in a country with a high crime rate or in a country at War.

England isn't perfect, it's far from it, but there are far worse places to live.

Aha. This is a peeve of mine.

We voted for Labour *with* Tony Blair's/Labour's then policies. Rightly or wrongly. When Brown came to power, we switched to his policies.

I'm sorry, but no.

Being proud of the country you just happened to be born into and upon which you have almost certainly had no influence is the height of irrationality, so no

It's like being proud of your shoe size or something

not quite, as we're what make it what it is.

and no... there are too many dumb things that can be improved

Im proud to be British, but agree with the current state of affairs. I just got off the plane today after being in Thailand for the past 6 months and it took a few hours to make me want to get back on the plane. Luckily Im only here for a week. The only thing I miss about not being here is my family and friends.

I'm not really proud of it, then again i don't believe in the idea of 'pride', i'm thankful i won the lottery of life and was born into a prosperous country.

But to answer your question, there are other countries i'd prefer to live in and britain isn't perfect.

If they did a mass cull like they did cattle with BSE of all the nasty chav types who cause crap all over estates, cull all the rapists, peedos, murderers I would be proud of our country, Britain would be a much better place without these four things.

I'm not proud of this country, I'm disgusted with it.

The general population are a bunch of whining, alcoholic, ignorant, ASBO-dodging plebs who only live by one rule. "Look after no.1, and let no.1 look after you."

The country is in an economic shambles, yet we still put up with this retarded government who think that spending billions on ID cards and biological databases to fight non-existant "terrorism" is the best thing to do right now. Not to mention our unelected leader is a one-eyed Scotsman who cannot smile without looking like a rapist.

We live in a country that lets in millions of immigrants, who then turn around and tell us that our soldiers are all vermin for going to war, and we're all going to die, and our country will become an Islamic state once they've taken control. Oh, and speaking out against this gets you branded a "racist" for good measure.

If you own a car you're treated like a cow ready for milking. Speed cameras everywhere, meaning motorists are spending more time looking at their speedo than the road itself. Police hiding behind hedges with speed guns, speed bumps that slowly destroy your car, extortionate insurance fees for young male drivers (legal sexism) and stupidly high petrol prices and road tax.

This country is full of overzealous politically-correct morons who ban nursery rhymes for having the word "black" in them. God forbid you should dare fly the Union Jack outside your house, didnt you know? It means you're a kerb-stomping, skinhead neo-nazi.

Slightly ironic that you started your first sentence with a conjunction there ;)
