Spa-Francorchamps - BELGIUM Grand Prix 2009 - Race 12/17

Really enjoyed that, chuffed for Fisi and Force India - would love to see them as consistent front-runners!
Shame about Button and Hamilton but it was just a racing incident as far as I could see.

Kimi wasn't the only one to run wide.

he was the only one the gain a place. (not talking about the run up the hill)

button lost 2

EDIT

just watching BBC F1 forum, Kimi had no intention of making that corner! he had his right foot welded to the floor on that escape road. he was probably using KERS (on a escape road that can be within the rules)

Of course it will be on Iplayer.

thanks mate , will get it watched in morning then...wasn't sure if they just put highlights on or the whole race

Brilliant story from DC when he was testing with Kimi.
He'd come in, go to sleep in the garage. They'd wake him up, he'd put on his helmet, go out, set a blistering lap time. Come back in, give some feedback, then go back to sleep. :D
I don't know why but I just love Kimi's attitude when I hear stories like that.

iam amazed kimi wasn't investigated for just heading wide at the first corner.

I take it you missed David Coulthard, a 13-time winner in GP racing with 535 points to his name, pointing out the fact that going wide there isn't actually much of an advantage given how much rubbish your tyres accumulate then?

Aaaaaanyway, as a Ferrari fan I'm obliged to post the following:

FORZA FERRARI!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Great race by Kimi, did exactly what he needed to do and didn't look like being beaten once he was ahead. Superb.

Some further thoughts:

1) Great race by Fisi too. I know the "what ifs" will be flying around now, but to be honest.....2nd place, in the Force India, it's a pretty bloody good result.
2) Appalling luck for the Brits. But that's the risk when you qualify mid-pack I guess.
3) Badoer - replace with someone else plzkthxbye.
4) Barrichello - don't think I've seen a car finish a race smoking like that for a while now ('95 Adelaide, with Panis' Ligier smoking its way through the last part of the race?). Very lucky to make it to the flag.

We have proved a point - Mallya
Force India team principal Vijay Mallya says Giancarlo Fisichella's second place at Spa demonstrates what can be achieved on a small budget, and makes Formula 1 more interesting.

Wonder if that is the first time the same team has come 1st and last place in a race before ?
Didn't Jake say in Valencia that they thought it was the first time ever Ferrari had ever been "plum last" on the qualifying grid. Had been on the back row before but not actually dead last. And Badoer did that twice in a row!

"Kimi - what's it like being a winner again?"

"Well, err, it's the same as before.."

All it was missing was a "for sure"
Haha. :D Typical Kimi. If that was Lewis or Button you'd get some perfect story for the media about how fantastic it is. Kimi's same as before comment is just brilliant. :D

Yeah. :) That and the ice cream and his reply to Martin about why he missed Pele on the grid at Brazil in 2003 I think it was.
