Hi all, i was just talking to a friend and neither of us can decided which was better. I never completed oblivion but I played it for HOURS, yet I did complete Fallout.

I loved the combat in fallout a lot more than oblivion. When i played oblivion it was on a rubbish PC - Fallout was pc. Maby thats why i prefered it?

The graphics for me in oblivion were stunning and i don't feel that fallout matched them, others may not agree with me.

I'm unsure which would get my vote, what are you thoughts?

I like them both, playing on the 360 at the moment. If I had to choose, I'd pick Fallout 3, mainly because of the Sci-Fi setting.

Fallout 3.

Oblivion was a buggy, glitchy horribly designed mess...but with the best of intentions. It's just got a lot of eatures that are really badly designed, you can use mods to fix these, but as far as I'm concerned if a games company makes a game that requires members of the general public to make playable for them, they should be lynched.

PS3 version is noted to have better draw distances, fps, textures ect and quicker loading. Mainly because the PS3 version was in development a lot longer.

Saying that, I played the 360 version to death and had no problems with it.. apart from when my memory card died 15 hours in and I lost all my save progress.

Oblivion.. gripped me a a lot better, played for hours and hours and keep coming back to it. Fallout, I've played for about 6 hours and got kinda bored of it - not to say it's a bad game, I just havn't gotten into it where as Oblivion still keeps pulling me back.

Oblivion for the bigger variety of what there is to do in the world.

On PS3 there's a bug with vampirism. I dont remember exactly what the problem is, but it stops you curing vampirism

When Oblivion came out in 2005 it was so unique and mind-blowingly epic that I bought it even though my PC was absolutely no way near capable of playing it unless I selected the lowest of the low settings. However, I played it for hours on end and totally loved it.

I now have a very high end PC and have played Fallout 3 quite a bit. Both games are based on the same model or framework so it's really just a question regarding setting. Which is your bag: sci-fi war torn cityscape or fantasy realm of swords and magic?

I think for me it's Oblivion that still holds the appeal. Prefer the music and just love the lush woodlands etc. Fallout 3 is darker and vats is clearly awesomeness on fire. But I adored being an assassin in Oblivion and working through the gladiator arena battles so for me its Oblivion.

Oblivion is much much more fun. I was seriously hooked. Fallout 3 seemed really boring and didn't grip me at all.

Oblivion for me.
I've just started my third playthrough. I've put in aprox 400 hours now on Oblivion,
whereas on Fallout, I've finished it once & can't be bothered to replay it.

From playing both on the 360, Fallout 3 looks a lot better graphically and i feel plays better.

Oblivion feels more suited to the PC and needs a few mods to make it look and play as well as Fallout 3 does.

Basically, the engine build of Fallout 3 is what Oblivion is like with mods. Most people agree on the PC version that no mods are needed for Fallout as its pretty perfect as it is, but with Oblivion you need a few to make it up to par. Graphically that is.

im currently playing fallout (PS3) and loving it but it is so similar to oblivion there are bits i miss, i.e. guilds and the battle arena, that being said though when i had oblivion on the 360 i remember being able to level up and the monsters did but the guardians didnt so it was a chore to get through some of the levels then the guardian was dead in a couple of strikes.

my current oppinion is that fallout 3 is the better game but im getting to the stage where i have to travel long distances to find places and it is obvious how much nicer this is to do on oblivion.

levelling up in fallout feels like your progessing where as in oblivion it just seems to make all monsters that little bit stronger (may of been fixed in newer versions, if so please inform me and i may pick it up again on the PS3)
