Oblivion or Fallout 3

Not played Fallout 3, but Oblivion is one of the best games I've played in a long time when it came out (been playing games since Atari ST/master system days :)).
Replaying Oblivion modded and on a meatier PC is an even more enjoyable experience .

Their both superb games and I've put about 70+ hours in to both games but i'd say Oblivion just nicks it. The side quests are excellent IMHO, especially the Dark Brotherhood ones. The main quest is quite poor though. Closing all those Oblivion gates urrrrgh but it redeems itself in so many ways.

Fallout 3 is also superb though. They need to hurry up and make the sequels for both ASAP :D

Considering hte space between Morrowind & Oblivion, I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm not even gonna mention the time it took to get a third Fallout on the market.

Oblivion, hands down. I might play Fallout 3 again in a couple of years, but I just don't expect it to hold me as much.

fallout 3 was epic, got around 60 hours out of it. im about 15 hours into oblivion now and im loving this even more. theres so much to it i probably wont see half of it. stunning to look at as well.

both truly fantastic games though.

I'd say Fallout 3, just seemed a more complete game/world and overall less plastic to me and while oblivion is good, such things as the leveling up of items/monsters to your level, having no reason to explore, plus a number of other personal annoyances and niggles, spoiled it.

What I'd do though, is buy Oblivion GOTY now and then Fallout 3 GOTY when it comes out later this year so you get all the DLC included.

Also Fibbles, I'd say the opposite for, I much prefer Oblivion modded (due to the niggles and leveling as I said above)

Fallout was very good, but the map was smaller than oblivion. Also when the main story ends it takes you to the main screen. wtf!?! It is fixed in the add on patch, but I am not paying for a patch.

Despite fallout being overall very good, oblivion is just bigger, better and has more to do in it. Theres also a bunch of mods that make it even better.

Patch for Fallout 3? It wasn't a patch it was a complete extra set of missions and extra ground to cover - its not just to allow you to carry on after the game ends.

The dodgy levelling of the mobs put me right off Oblivion, that and the devs only using about three people to do all the voices for the NPCs.

Still a good game, but salient points, particularly the (lack of) voices. How could the producers make such a decision is beyond me.

I'd say Fallout 3, because I found the side quests much more interesting and open ended, and it felt like I was actually solving problems myself rather than picking from one or two preset solutions, as in Oblivion.

The main quest in Fallout 3 does kind of suck though, so if you focused on that I can see why you might not like the game. It's also quite a bit shorter than Oblivion.

On the other hand I think the world is better realised and contains less repetition, as well as the possibility of finding genuinely rare and unique items, which were somewhat absent in Oblivion. So I enjoyed exploration more in Fallout 3.

personallly get both, and if you do intend on doing so play oblivion first imo because going from fallout to oblivion would be weird as you would be vats less
