Neighbour terrorising the street

Get together with your neighbours. If they are confronted by more than one household and presented with the reality of what a full street of pee'd off people are going to do to them. It will probably soon stop, or they will move.

Burning cross in the front garden should do the trick :D failing that extreme violence to all family involved repeated daily should get the message across.

Really don't know why people have to come on an internet forum to ask for advice on this. Phone the police! Is it not the obvious thing to do? Then again they could be as useless as they are here.

Using my powers of deduction I reckon the OP is somewhere in the lower 'Not Too Bad' area.
One clue was that Asian ladies walked past and there are no Asians in the top 'Not Too Bad' area (that I know of).

I watched an episode of The Wire last night. The cold open showed a kid who had stolen a 4x4 passing a cop car who gave chase. Eventually after some shenaningans, the cop found the kid, and proceeded to break the index and pinky on each of the kids hands...

Was watching it with my parents, my mum was outraged but I was like 'well the kid probably won't steal a car again in a hurry'...(the cop in question has already been shown in the series to be fairly bent, but in this case I was on his side)

Its a real tough situation, we had a similar scumbag family move in next to us a number of years ago. They were scum, lowest of the low, 5 kids, niether of the parents had jobs, would always climb into our garden, try and break into the shed, were always fighting, arguing, hurling abuse, argh, gets me angry just thinking about it.

One day I decided I'd had enough, and knocked on his door. It was 11am in the morning, guy opens the door, already half cut with a can of Fosters in his hand, and after a few heated words, attacks me with a kitchen knife, stabbing me a couple of times, before doing a dissapearing act.

Police were finally spurred into action, council pulled their fingers from their asses and evicted the family, scumbag never got nicked for it, because he dissapeared onto a caravan site somewhere and stopped claiming his benefits.

Looking back, I regret being so softly softly with them, if it happened again now, I'd probably get as many mates together as I could and have a 'word' - its a tough situation mate - I dont really have any faith in the police or social services to do anything about it, think you'll have to club together with the neighbours and see what you can do.

*Most worryingly they often run across the road without looking

How is that most worrying? :p In before someone yells at me for making a joke too :D

Are British people now saying sidewalk?

Good god I hope not.

You're just a yank right? That's all it is? I heard "closet" on TV yesterday.

I half the time spell / speak using USA lingo. Mostly because I do web design which targets a lot of international / US customers, one of my best friends is from the USA... who cares if you say sidewalk or closet :p

The thing that bugs me is when people say "it costs 50 pound"... no, "it costs 50 pounds" :p:rolleyes: Anyways

I used to live in a nice road where all the neighbours were friendly & there was no trouble.
Last year a family bought a house 8 doors above me, they appeared to have 3 teenagers & 2x 7yr olds.
Within a spate of 3 months, 3 cars were stolen within 100 yards of this house & also body-kit theft from my car.

Recently the teenagers appear to have disappeared, apart from a female teenager who walks up/down the road about 50times/day for an unknown reason.

The road is now having problems with the 2x 7yr olds:

*Hitting a car parked on road with stick so neighbour told them stop, then that night the rear window of the car was smashed with a house-brick.

*Swearing at passers by.

*Throwing stones at cars driving down the road.

*Throwing stones at house windows when occupants are away.

*Playing in someone’s rear driveway & when owner wishes to drive car out of driveway & tells the children to move out the way they hurl abuse at the driver.

*Placed glass bottle in middle of road then watched from sidewalk as cars smashed the bottle.

*Most worryingly they often run across the road without looking & the road is often busy with cars doing >30mph & large buses have to mount the kerb for 100yards etc.

These little brats often have new bikes etc. so their parents must care on some level?
I presume their home life must be very violent & maybe their parents are drug users etc. as the children often look very angry.

Coincidentally, theres a nearby road which looks like it contains a lot of rough people & I'm forced to drive as fast as legally possible to make it harder for the local population to hit my car with a stone.
Unfortunately hitting a child at 30mph will probably kill them rather than the 20mph id prefer to drive at.

Is there anything that can be done to stop this terrorising behaviour from this neighbour without fear of reprisal?

thanks

Out of curiousity how much is the house they bought worth? Is it a semi?

Your local Council should have a Community Safety team, the one that works at my place is really good and have served a good amount of ASBO's for problem people.

That should be your first step.

What are the normal words for sidewalk and closet?

How tight are you with the neighbours right now? I pretty much know everyone in my 'hood, we get together for bonfires and such on a regular basis. If any malcontents moved in, we'd have them shuffling off just through sheer annoying behaviour. (We've done it twice in 10 years.) :D

Speak to the neighbour, if that fails, phone council. Police to report any actual damage or dangerous activities.
If all else fails, hope the two little ****'s get hit by cars,

If a stone hits your car, do what I did when that happened to me, get out (remove keys is a must), grab the ******* that did it and cram them head first into the nearest wheelie bin. Alright the kid was probably like 8 but he was wearing a tracksuit and supposed to be at school, crying his eyes out he was :D

Normal words? You mean the british words?

Pavement and wardrobe.
