Naruto finished the recent spat of fillers and has moved back onto the proper storyline.

I'm not sure why the keep sticking fillers in, they are miles behind the manga.

And Bleach has just moved on to fillers, which I find to be ok. Though I do like in Bleach with fillers they just go "And now on to a different story" as the only explanation.

Or the two episode filler with the princess and the soccer game where at the end Ichigo says "Well this was pointless"

i love this about bleach, how they like to add into it thats its the managements fault were stuck with another stint of fillers. but the bleach fillers havnt been too bad, i hate the 3-4 random episodes they make but dont mind the longer saga's. not watched the latest one yet think i might wait untill they get back onto the main story before watching them.

indeed ....

Well today I've been watch :

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World ... which was ok, not great, but ok, fanservice is a bit in your face at times though. Nice packaging though, I originally had singles for this release but had issues with one of them so replaced them with the thinpack in a nice tin.

Also made a start on Irresponsible Captain Tylor (TV series) which has been quite amusing so far. (note I'm watching the original Ultimate release instead of the new remastered release). Quite old school in animation style.

Also rewatching Clannad as well, (watched up to the first episode of the Kotomi arc last night so he was completely destroyed by the end of the Fuko arc).

Tylor is fun, if you've got the ultimate sets don't forget to read the books, they're short but fun:)

I'm just about at the end of A__a the Natural and really loving it, I can't quite explain why, partly it's the looks and general "feel good factor" of the series, partly it's the humour (episode 25 on the houseboat has had me in tears of laughter when President, Ai, and Athena are dancing for example), and I think partly it's the story/visuals/sound.

It's sort of sad that I've only got another episode to watch until the wait for the OVA's and third series.

Have you read the Aqua and A__a mangas? .... they are both pretty good too with volume 5 of the latter due to be released this autumn. I'm rereading at the moment (up to volume 2 of A__a having reread Aqua) ... same nice feel and gentle humour and the characters are very nicely drawn (don't look as babyish as they do from some angles in the anime).

Uming and erring on watching ergo proxy, it's raved about on this thread but i've seen a number of reviews across the web slating the story completely and saying it's garbge.

Everyone agrees that it looks lush however

East of Eden looks interesting too

Ergo Proxy is a thinking man's anime, highly complex and redolent with philosophical references. It is not for everyone, but it is definitely not garbage.

And yes, it looks lush.

A__a for me its definitely one of those few series that ive watched where i wish it hadn't came to an end. I think its a great anime to watch if you're a little down, as you said it's got a great feel good factor to it. I rank it 10/10 tbh right alongside the likes of Clannad and E7.

Also is anyone else still watching Shangri-la and still thinking wtf is going on like i am?

To be honest I've only seen the first 9 episodes of Shangri-la so far ... so not yet :)

Re-watching Clannad at the moment and it strikes me how well the background music works with what is going on ... take episode 19 for instance, from when Tomoya sees his new room through to the ad break, there is a lovely theme and variations piece going on in the background :)

Btw it appears that ADV are not more ... now I'm an Astrophysicist by training not a business major but from what I can see in the press releases basically all the assets have now been divided up between various new limited companies who seemed to be owned by familiar names so it would look to be an attempt to free up them up from whatever lingering issues (read probable debts) that ADV Films still had/has and allow them to move forward. ADV then gets made bankrupt the previous creditors has doomed. Hope whatever it is works out and we see a continuing release schedule (including Clannad AS of course) ... There's more on this at ANN and over on the AoDVD forum.

Tokyopop losing their Kodansha licenses as well .... confusion doth reign ....

edit: it would appear that Section23 (stupid company name if you ask me) has got the ADV licenses and has told RACS that things will continue to be shipped (current titles) and released (upcoming titles which have been licensed) as before with no slippage ... which is as expected as this is just financial shenanigans really (in my opinion) ...

Demoniser/memyselfandi, I think i'm going to have to read the manga for it.
I just finished the Natural and the last episode was great, very good fun but with some very strong hints as to what is next ;)
It's got to be the only anime I've seen* that could not only get away with an entire episode dedicated to what they were doing, but do it in such a way that it was great fun to watch:)
I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Ai in an Undine uniform, as that was the cover for disc 4's case, and the menu.

I think i'm going to have to start paying some more attention to Rightstuf's other releases as so far i've thoroughly enjoyed all of the ones i've seen, including both A__a and Emma which I probably wouldn't have given a second glance to normally.

Re ADV, it looks like it's pretty much as you've reckoned going by an ANN article, basically ADV due to the stake they sold to Sojez weren't in any state to get additional finance (being 20% owned by a company who you've had a falling out with doesn't make for a good stable company as far as potential investors are concerned).
I'd guess that the "LLC's" have probably bought up most of ADV's rights to shows etc so that they are safe, and that that is the reason ADV created Sentai to hold the rights to it's new licences a while back (so Clannad is probably safe, as would be their plans for AS), and this is basically the nail in the coffin for the old ADV as a single company, but a save for ADV in spirit (same primary people behind it)

Interestingly enough, it's also the way that ADV ran things like the Anime Network and ADV UK, they were all independent companies owned by ADV (or it's owners), but without the ability to hurt ADV too much if they failed.
It's still a pity that ADV of old seems to have died, at least as a major player with dubbing etc :(

*Although I suspect some long running anime that are in desperate need of more filler would probably try it if they were short on ideas:p

Well, Rightstuf's other releases .... and you've liked A__a and Emma, I'd say it would have to be my personal favourite; Maris Watches Over Us (Maria-sama ga Miteru). Again a nice gentle set of series' which concentrates on the relationships between characters instead of resorting to rampant yuri-ism and fanservice. It would have been very easy to turn the series into another generic Otobuko or Strawberry Panic but they have resisted some of the usual cliches and kept everything nice, (a series set in a girls school with no fanservice, no "swimming" lesson, no trip to beach in the summer break). It's not without it's flaws but what they have done and how they have done it is very very good. It's also nice that Nozomi have released each series with two subtitle tracks with one keeping the honorifics intact. Hopefully they will continue this with Season 4 which is licensed and should be released next year. (note though the wikipedia page for the series does have some spoilers).

But it's September .... and that means Yen Press's rescue of Yotsuba&! volumes 1-5 and their new release of volume 6 are out this month! Yay!

My 3 week summer vacation is here again:DAnd i feel a Anime fest coming on
Already watched `Kenkoo Zenrakei Suieibu Umishou`Silly but fun anime about a high school swim team mmmmm school girls in swim suits.
The best word to describe it has to be BOING;)
Last episode had me in stitches especially when the male team captain did his dance to cheer on his side for some reason the image of `Whack-a-mole`kept springing to mind
Am currently about 3/4 the way through `Lovely Complex`reminds me of `Marmalade Boy`in style,am quite enjoying it atm(it seems older than it is,if you get what i mean.Graphics are not up to today's quality but the story i find enjoyable)

Has anyone had any experience with a series called Bokurano? Someone recommended it to me but frankly I don't trust his recommendations at all so I thought I'd ask here.

Not heard of it, (and given the info on wikipedia I can't say I really want to), but it does indicate that Viz are putting some of the manga online from July so that may give you a bit of an idea about it.

Has anyone seen the anime about a 22 year old male who isolates himself in his apartment and thinks theres a conspiracy against him? Its about the problem in Japan where people isolate themselves from society and, well, go nuts.

A Japanese friend recommended it to me as I wanted to watch a comedy anime that was a bit different than the norm. I cant remember the name, but I watched a few episodes last night for the first time and thought it was really funny.

eggyoke, that sounds like Welcome to the NHK, available both in Manga, and Anime (I think Funi have the licence to the anime at the moment in the states).

memyselfandi, I think I may order Maria Watches Over Us next time Rightstuf have a Nozomi sale ;)
I would order it under their stock clearance sale, but I've only just bought my compressor/air-brush and need to buy a new (decent) mouse.

Yup thats it! Thought it was really strange but very good too. Its funny, but quite disturbing watching him persuade himself to cut everything off from the outside even though he knows its the source of his problem. It seems very well written so far :)

Yep, the Hikikomori ... very strange phenomenon.

I'm not sure about Welcome to the NHK (I have the R1 singles release prior to the Funi license rescue) and the manga. Did find it a bit over strange at times though.

Interesting news on AoDVD ... new releases from Section23 for November .... includes ...

You're Under Arrest Season 2 Collection 1 (Wow!)
Tears to Tiara Collection 1
Special A Colleciton 1

And other things I've never heard of (not that I've seen the latter two above anyway)
