You can't deny it.
Anyway, as said before, if they are consistent It's a good decision. If not it's a disgrace.

I find it funny as nearly every club has a diver!
Every team cheats.
I find it scandalous that Eduardo is getting two match ban for breaking the rules when so many other rules are breached. In the Arsenal Manchester match last week Evra kicked the ball off the pitch then claimed for a throw in, that is cheating so why is he not getting suspended? The same goes for the pushing and pulling in the penalty area when there is a corner. Every player that does that should get a two match ban as well then since it is against the rules. Then there was that match a couple weeks ago where every player apart from the ref saw the ball go into the net and bounce back out. Should the entire opposition team get banned as well for deceiving the officials and not owning up?

yes diving is a major problem, but its the spineless referee's (at all levels) that are ruining the game ...
It opens a can of worms really, I'm sure a lot of posters here never go to any football games but you really do see a lot of dives and other blatant 'cheating' at matches. As has been mentioned previously I also hope it's consistent from now on. And no, I'm not an Arsenal fan.
He deserves the ban to be honest. It was the most shameless dive I have ever seen, and I see a lot. It's a pity this doesn't happen a lot more often, as it would deter the practice considerably.
Eduardo should have received a far more severe punishment though. A month's ban, plus the wages docked. That would send a message. Two games is nothing, especially if they're small ones.

Well consistency has gone out of the door since Rooney got away with his, seems they're only clamping down on the "bad" dives not the convincing ones.
a months ban and two months wages docked is nothing to footballers these days, they earn such ridiculous amounts of money it wouldnt even make a dent to their standard of living.
all top footballers 'bend' the rules in every game, referee's are conned all the time and we could sit and name hundreds of incidents. Clubs wont take the required action to deal with the problem and managers simply cant afford to leave 'top' players out of the squad.
this is the sorry state the sport is in, i see young kids on a sunday performing the same acts so the root of this problem is already imbedded and is almost culture.

And therein lies the problem. The next set of domestic fixtures it happened again.
Also in Scotland, I think that a Celtic player in fact got a second yellow for simulation.

This is the stance of UEFA, what im wondering though is what happens in the next game in Europe where a player dives (in the box or not), does the ref give him a yellow and tells him he is banned for the next 2 games, if so why not give him a straight red, that would surely help more to remove diving from the game?
Will other national FAs be taking on this harsh stance on cheating/foul play, will our FA start to retro-actively ban players from the start of this season?, as im sure we have had a dive or 2 already. As someone said early this really is a can of worms and you just know its going to be inconsistent in its punishment of players.
Or are we looking at this the wrong way, is diving now a part of the game, just like a player scoring from an offside position and the linesman not flagging, claiming you got the ball when you have fouled the player and got away with it, getting a throw in/corner even though the ball touched you last and defenders holding onto strikers and vice versa whilst a corner or free kick is played in to get an advantage? These are not frowned upon so why not diving?

rooneys wasnt convincing...he steamed in, welted the ball off the pitch and fell over the goalkeeper, making sure to not get past the goalkeeper because he had already kicked the ball off the pitch!

I think that would be a matter for the FA and not UEFA but I could be wrong.
I am guessing UEFA will only get involved in European matches (Champions League and Europa League)

I have several issues:
How have they proved intent? The FA claimed they couldn't prove Martin Taylor intended to break Edaurdo's leg (for example) yet UEFA can for a dive.
Since when has an offence which in a game is a yellow card become a 2 game ban?
Will they be banning players who dive for penalties, or free kicks, or anywhere on the pitch? Surely a deliberate hand ball caught seen after the game can be seen "for deceiving the referee" the same thing Edaurdo has been banned for?
Yes crack down on diving, but why now, it's not like something we have seen for the last 20+ years.

No different to the Arsenal centre-back who hoofed the ball out for a corner and somehow a goal kick was given- these things balance out so there's no need to get so caught up about it.
Yet if it wasn't him kicking up a fuss, this thread wouldn't be here.
Its actually more Pro Celtic supporter in UEFA you have to worry about.
