Which cs:s package should i buy off steam?

Certainly the quickest for action and response times.

Fo' sure

I don't think you'll find any Quake/UT player agreeing with you, though I'm sure you'll find CS/CSS players agreeing. I'm not saying that either group is right - just that the two groups of players tend not to agree on things like that :)

Option 2 can be bought online NEW for £9.48.

The Orange Box can be bought for £11.93

I'd say buy those 2 for a few quid more and I think he would have a good selection of Single player AND Multiplayer games to last him a while.

I'd say that would be a good introduction to PC gaming for £20.

No Aekeron, you are wrong :p

CSS does require more accuracy (on servers with decent hit reg, ie mine ;), others it's luck). Speed however probably goes to the Unreal Tournament/Quake style games. CSS though I think you need more skill and is the harder game to pick up from new.

for example in a utgame a single shot from a gun pretty much wont kill you, however in a competitive 1on1 you would be required to get almost consistent headshot for example followed by a perfectly timed rocket whilst mid flight to get a kill.

even the tactical side of ut can be very much the winning of a game, for that player that times all picks ups, (armour and health) which allows himself to dominate the map not allowing the other player to stock up will again win the match.

Am sure i bought the disk of css for about 8quid and it came with day of defeat source and hl2:dm free.
Check play and amazon to see what they are selling it at.
CS:S retail doesn't come with DOD:S and HL2: DM.

The HL2 retail comes with all of the above though.

Ok UT is probably faster in movement and ridiculous jumps, but aim is all in CS like almost no other game. Pure steady hand.

CSS is only hard if your playing at a good competitive level, in which case you have to have aim gamesense and teamwork. If your new and only playing public, spray whilst holding down any WASD key and you will get a kill. If you have good fps you also seem to kill everything you see no matter how good you aren't.

This will annoy any half decent player.

haha, yes i remmber, during the days of playing ut when your killing spree would be ended by the noob "player" whom would run directly at you with a random gun and the trig pulled.
