Picked up some cyclones yesterday and they have a fair bit of paint peel etc. I was going to leave it but I couldn't get any wheel bolts today so out of boredom I decided to re-do them in white!

Started with:

Sanded and filler primered (found quite a few minor low spots!)

Primer sanded, see those bits that look like splats of primer? They are in fact low spots! (quite a few around the alloy!)

Now to attack the major problem, the paint peel. I couldn't smooth it off with sanding and didn't fancy spending FOREVER getting the whole thing back to metal... bit of body filler did the trick though!

Sanded back again

Cleaned up and put on first coat of hammerite smooth white!

Second coat

Didn't clean up around the badge enough, rough surface including filler primer left! DOH. At least I know for the next 3! This has since gone with more coats of paint

Missed a MASSIVE chip cannot believe I didn't see it, if you look above it's right next to where I was body fillering! SILLY BOY.

This was about the 5th coat of paint! Alloy 1 done, 3 to go!

Have indeed! Got it RRd at 106. However it's had a lot more done since then - I imagine it's around 115bhp now, isn't bad on fuel either!

Make sure you give them plenty of lacquer too! Keep the brake dust at bay.

Shouldn't need it, hameritte metal paint is colour and top coat in one. Wheel on my old golf where hammerited and did just fine but I will heed this advice should they get all gunked up and I do them again!

Looks good. Did you spray the air nozzel too? :-/

Aha No its masking taped up!

Those all in one paints do go one quite thick, not the best for around the badge area but should look good for a while at least.

Spraying is a learning experience and you'll find all 4 wheels will probably have a couple of flaws before you're done. You'll prep them better next time, but remember just to spray a thing coat from a distance every 10 mins or so. Makes life so much easier.

theres no poke without black smoke with dervs. My mates P1 dturbo 306 use to blast out loads of black smoke. We took a pic of it when he was driving away and you couldnt see the car through it lol shame that it got turned into a small cube

Can see the chip in the filler here...

Probably wasn't keyed to the wheel properly. May have issues with the rest falling off later.

Nah its keyed in really well (i tested with a screw driver and some brute force first as I've been lead to believe it doesnt work on alloy wheels....)

The problem there is i just totally missed it!!

That matches quite well actually, although you need to be careful - you could get a small family moving into those wheel arches if you're not careful ;)

Oi don't kick off! :p I've only had the car a wee while the ride hight is onthe to do list :)

Angel eyes? :p

Firstly they are the only crystal clear lights you can get for the 306 ph1.

Secondly I actually like them now :(

You could actually hide a whole family of immigrants under those arches, be careful if you ever go through Calais, be sure to check the arches for Romanian Gypsies.
