*** Apple's 9/9/9 Media Event ***

* Blue ray player in Apple TV

Would be quite interesting if they did this but I'm not convinced.

It (partly) negates the need for an ATV if it's got a BR player and Apple won't be getting any revenue from BR sales - I just can't see it happening.

If they did go down that route then the ATV would have to be able to output 1080p which might lead the way for 1080p content on iTunes.

However, seeing as they won't even let us access 720p via computers through iTunes yet, I doubt that they're going to start introducing 1080p content. Also, they don't have BR drives in any of the computers so why would they add it to the ATV?

uughgh, still so many days away, ive had the money to buy a 32gb ipod touch for about 2-3 weeks now! then I heard about this.....its really burning a hole in my pocket :<

HURRY and release a new ipod ^_^

Be surprised if there is not a new Touch and/or Nano with a camera since we are seeing all these new cases with a hole for a camera.

I'd expect iTunes to have a 64bit upgrade to be fair with SL

No good reason to do it though, it's not the sort of app which stands to gain massive performance improvements through going 64bit and there will be loads of users out there still on leopard or earlier who'd gain nothing. Something like Aperture or the other pro apps would be a more logical choice...

Obviously it'll happen one day but I don't see it happening a week after the first 64bit version of OSX is released...

TextEdit and the Address Book don't gain a massive performance improvement either, but they're still 64-bit now and they could have been holding off iTunes for this event. Plus they've already put out a 64-bit version for Windows.

-Nano capacity/battery boost or possible a redesign although I think it's less likely this time around.
-Camera on the touch, would like to see GPS/Compass but I don't think we'll see that. Maybe a processor/memory boost to bring it inline with the 3G S spec.
-SSD full sized iPods (64/128GB versions?)

Ipod touch? Once the Ipod touch gets to those sort of relms i can see the classic just disapearing. I wouldnt be suprised if it went this year, as the last update well... it wasnt what id call an update!

Which of the big players still make the 1.8" HDD based players?

It's very unlikely that they are going to be doing anything to the computer side of their products as it's a media event (iPods, iTunes, ATV etc).

However, how impatient are you? For the sake of 3/4 days, it might be worth hanging on.

I will say that I got caught out when I was buying my MBP. I waited for the 'Event' but there was no announcements about the Mac Book line up so I went and ordered it, then 3 weeks or so later they did a stealth spec-bump and I missed out on three-fingered gesturing. :(

I know it's an iPod event, but I'm still hoping for a decent mightymouse without the bleeding scroll ball. Grr.
