District 9 review...it's looking good... **SPOILERS**

Some people just don't get films like this :p

Films like what? Please explain.

I found the film interesting but it just seems to have been hyped up and I found the actual film pretty flat. I understand the basics of this film and the background of the country this is set in and the director. The social interaction of humans and "aliens" the history of that countries apartheid is quite obvious. I also liked how it dealt with the aliens rather than them being the common acid spitting, invasion fleet, blow up the whitehouse bs. I liked the idea of the film rather than the actual film itself, things just seemed too obvious in the scriptwriting/direction.

Fantastic approach to an already overdone alien species arrives on earth plot.
Loved it, will definitely be getting that on Blu-ray when it comes out.
CGI Awesome
Great comedic moments
Not too heavy a plot
Ending left wide open for a sequel :D... 3 years :D

Well you know what the sequel will be called... but someone already has d-10.com for the last 4 years so it's not likely to be called D-10.. but expires in 2 days time (9-9-09) so keep your eyes pealed for sony on the domain registration (as it is for d-9.com).

I thought it was an ok film, but no more than that and not up to all of the hype that I'd read, probably a 6/10 for me, a bit different, but I also found it a bit flat as well.

Flat? I found it intense, it just wouldnt stop the whole time. (funny how opinions differ.)

Hyped up? I hadn't heard of it until the day I went to see it.

In fairness the viral campaign was huge. You're obviously just not geeky enough ;) There were "No Non-Human Loitering" posters up in cities all over the world (LA, SF, NY, London), and fake blogs from MNU employees linked from loads of geek-esque sites that you could read the entries of, even an alien had a blog where he complained about the MNU. They had "human only" toilets at conventions and stuff too. The MNU website had working phonenumbers that when called would spiel off loads of stuff about Alien behaviour and you could leave messages and shizz. Was pretty well thought out, actually.

Slight spoiler:

I loved those shots of Wikus' face inside the mech/battle suit. Was incredibly awesome. Can't wait for an HD copy so I can get some sort of wallpaper out of that.

I watched this last night, have to say, I had heard nothing about it, only seen the trailers....

WOW, what a good film :)

A few minutes in, and I thought it was going to be a remake of Alien Nation... thankfully, it was better and even part way through, it had me suspecting a battle between "them & us", but actually turned out differently, was well worth watching.

Looking forward to a sequel....

I actually preferred this suit's UI and graphics over other films that have dne similar (Ironman) it just felt way more real!

It's the shaky camera use inside the suit that does it mainly and the way the UI jolts and judders on each enemy impact and the way it spawns artefacts etc - Niceness!
