If you had the choice of i7 or i5, what would you choose? Is there that much difference between i5 and i7?

WHat do you do on your PC? If you do a lot of encoding/graphics work that sort of thing then the i7 on x58 with the HT and greater bandwidth will benefit you.
For a gaming system, save some cash with the i5 and put what you save towards a 5870 :p

I got rid of my Q6600. Generally gaming, but for the sake of £40, the i7 920 can be bought and it will also lead on to i9. If there's not that much difference between them, heck i'll get the i5:)

I was hoping for £150

but i'll not argue for a tenner, ordering shortly. I paid around 150 for my E8400 iirc at release so it seems fair to me.

I suppose when you think about it they arn't that badly priced, a decend AM3 board is about 130 these days, 955 is about 140 and dc ram for am3 and i5/i7 is the same. So long as i5 out performs AM3, its pretty good.

Very few decent air coolers for 1156, and no 1156 bolt-thru kits for Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme in stock with OUK, rather disappointing!
