The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Just started Mining Director 5 on one toon, and Caldari Battleships 5 on another :(

Oh well, in a month Ill have that mindlink and a super fit raven, starting for golem!

I'm half way through mining barge 5 and I've got 10 days left, I'm scared to think how long exhumers 5 takes.

I think it was about 35 days. To be honest even though it sounds like a long while i've been a bit too busy in RL (moving house, new job etc) that it's just flown by. I now have 60 mill SP with most in PVP areas but I've never been to good at PVP (infact I'm awful) so I decided to take a look into the industry aspect of the game. Spent the past 6 months or so building bits and really enjoying it. It's a good area to look at if you can't play to much :). Watch out roids!! Here I come!!:D

Any of you mining guys in a corp that could use another miner? Im in a hulk with decent skills for mining but my corp seems to have gone to sleep lol..

Looking for like minded people to mine with and have a chat, im only a high sec miner though, 0.5+

I run a hi sec mining/indy corp. Hit me up ingame tonight - General Oxys - if you're interested! Wea re pretty smal scale atm but we have a laugh. Have just merged with another corp, we are in the process of absorbing their indy chars, whilst the combat chars stay there as a sister corp.

Downloading this again got an account but have 5 days left so will make a trial acc now. Just wondering, can anyone explain security sectors, as that's what's confusing to me.

Tends to be safe space. Small NPC rats that won't do too much damage. Everywhere (belts, gates, outside stations etc) are patrolled by CONCORD so if anyone attacks you (or if you attack anyone else) CONCORD will come along and make short work of your hard earned ship and all the lovely tech II components you've kitted it out with.

0.4 - 0.1
Low sec! You can be attacked in anywhere without CONCORD intervening! However, at gates and at stations the sentry guns will come into play and attack the attackers. There are no sentry gun at the belts!! NPC rats are medium sized and will cause a bit of damage if you ignore them.

Null Sec. You can be attacked anywhere. Nice big rats!

Depending on what your characters sec. status is will also decide what sec systems you can go in.

If your characters sec status is greater than -5.0 (e.g. -5.1, -5.2 etc) you are deemed and outlaw and can only stay in systems with a rating of 0.0 to 0.4. You can be attacked at gates without the sentries getting involved. However you can also attack back to defend yourself.

If your status is anything else negative e.g. -2.8 or -1.0 for example this will affect what hi sec systems you can enter. Can't remember the details but it's worth looking into if you aim to be naughty :).

Also important to note that if your at war with another corp/alliance, you can be attacked anywhere no matter what the sec status of the system your in.

No doubt I will have made a mistake or two so if anyone see's anything, point it out! Hope that helps.

Thank you that made me understand a lot better. Also, say I get into a fight with someone and they destroy my ship. I lose my ship permanently right?

No problemo; and yes, when you lose a ship it's gone for good. Thats why it's never good to fly a ship that you can't afford to lose. You can get insurance (in stations) which will help when you do lose it but this won't cover the cost of the modules as well.

Sounds good, what system do you mine in?

Nice to see the number of miners growing :)

More targets for me and my corp \o/ :D All your strip miners belong to us! Managed to get a ORE strip miner off a hulk the other day. Sold for close to 200mil!!

Yes I'm a dirty pirate, but it feels good.

I get my pc tomorrow and last time I logged on was next to half a year ago, pretty sure I'll be kicked out my corp. Is ocuk running a corp? I'm a big fat miner... which will peek Totalitys interest I imagine. :p
