SW:TOR on Steam for £6.99!

There's a known problem when you get to Dantooine. If the game locks up when you get there, do this :

Go into your swkotor.ini file and open it as a text file. The file is located by default in C:\program files\lucasarts\swkotor. Add the line Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1 somewhere under the [graphics options] section.

man alive this game is buggy. Lol we complain until we are blue in the face when a game gets released that has maybe one or two bugs but this.......... this is ridiculous!

great fun though

Purchased today and as I run an Vista 64 system I shall let one & all know how I get on :)

I've heard so much about this game, and as a star wars fan I might just enjoy it ... ;)

I had so many problems with Kotor 1 and 2 on the pc, that I ended up getting them for the xbox. You can get them dirt cheap these days, and I loved the first one to death, not had a proper shot at the second yet. But I hear it was rushed out for a xmas release and it's not finished, so that sort of took the wind out of my sails a bit.

Am i the only person who didn't have any issues with KOTOR 1/2 on my Vista machine?

The KOTOR series are my favourite SW games followed very closely by X-Wing Vs Tie-Fighter and Jedi Outcast.

Bioware did an amazing job and i wished that had made KOTOR 3 not an MMO but hey TOR is still going to be an amazing game.

Get it, i would if i didn't already have it.

I've heard so many people give nothing but love to this game but i've ashamedly never played it :(

I think for £6.99 I have no excuse now lol

Ive bought the game after caving in, i already own the game on cd but due to vista problems couldnt play it. So im hoping that the steam version i might be lucky. Ive completed this game so many times and i cant wait to do it again:)

Im having to restrain myself from buying this, or else my first few weeks at uni are going to be ruined :(

Must. Resist.

I'll buy this as long as I don't see any "OMG the Steam version crashes with Vista x64" posts in the next two weeks. :)

i'd still get it at that price, that just my experience on vista x64. KotOR II has been flawless gameplay wise on W7 x64, just saving that kills it. haven't tested KotOR I yet.

I can only speak for the retail version but they run fine on Vista x64,make sure you install latest DX9.0c version (March 2009) and run as Admin and XP compatibility mode, for KOTOR2 you might need the MS32.DLL file ,info here http://forums.obsidian.net/lofiversion/index.php?t50140.html .

Personally I see no point in me buying the Steam version since I have both the retail versions working great in Vista x64,no issues with saving either.

I'm a huge Bioware fan thanks to Mass Effect but i have never played this.
It was released 2003 which is quite a few years back.

Have the visuals aged well or does it look like an old game ?
Not sure if i have the will to play a dated looking game, would rather do another play through of Mass Effect.

So basically, would you recommend it ?

It certainly isn't a bad looking game ... there are others that have dated a LOT worse!

Take a look through IGNs image gallery for an idea of the visuals :)

I am very tempted by this as I loved the game and it was a long long time ago that I played it so would be good to go back !

No issues so far on vista x64, although i only played for 2 hours. Still a fantadtic game. The first 5 mins was painful though as i remembered how to play!
