Holden Ute - How would one go about getting one?

speak to walkinshaw performance or monkfish performance.

Walkinshaw performance is the UK arm of Tom Walkinshaws company who own HSV in australia. When vauxhall import the VXR8 they're buying them from walkinshaw. Thats also the reason why you can buy mods from walkinshaw without effecting your warranty. The VXR8 bathurst is just a VXR8 with lots of walkinshaw mods from the catalogue at a reduced price.

HSV in oz just buy the chassis direct from holden and use their own production line.

Monkfish performance have their own R8 ute demonstrator, so you can ask them about how they sourced theirs. They may have sourced directly through walkinshaw however.

Lol, Monkfish...

Sorry, back on thread. Im always interested to see how importing cars compares to buying here, but I dont suppose this works with Utes. Is there any performance pickup trucks on sale in the UK that arent imports?

no they will all have been imported.

Dodge Ram SRT10, Holden R8 ute etc... are all imported. Heck i dont even think we get many pickup trucks full stop in this country. Nobody uses them apart from work purposes.

Even the style icon, the Mitsubishi L200 doesnt really have a fast model for sale over here.

Didnt think so. Any pickups are just 4x4's with the rear end missing. Ford should remake the P100 and base it on a Focus ST, although if they do a Falcon Ute based thing in Aus, then that kind of already does it.

Firegod -What is your need for a Ute anyway?

that would be the ford falcon XR8 pickup then

No pommie 5 cylinder engines in that. V8 of course ;)

I'm sure a fiend who works at a Vauxhall dealership mentioned that you could buy the VXR8 Maloo over here at some point, or he may have said it was in the pipeline.

There are a surprising number of Holden Monaros over here. I would say i regularly see more imported Monaros than I do Vauhall badged ones or VXR8s

Thanks guys, and many thanks MrLOL for the links and info, that's just what I was after. :)

@Skeeter, no need whatsoever. haha. Saw one when I was staying with friends in Oz years ago, as they owned one. Thought it was awesome! Think it had had some work done to it though as when it started up it sounded like the devil! And I just love the looks, the sound, everything really. Then when I saw it on top gear again with Hammond I just loved it even more. 6l V8. Yes please! :D

Yea prices are similar. I drove the Falcon and the Commodore (Though not in Ute guise) and much preferred the Falcon :)

Did you know a brand spanking new V8 Falcon XR8 Ute costs just $39k? Thats under £20k :(

Damn that's a nice price. See I wouldn't want a new one either, maybes a year or two old would do me fine. So the price (I'm guessing) would hopefully be less again.

Holden > Ford ;)

oh god dont start

the ozzies are bad enough for this as it is. Wander in the wrong supporters section of the bathurst and its like being a leeds fan in the middle of the millwall supporters section.

it will be the import taxes and VAT and stuff that kill it. I know a certain ex member was saying that he could get a mustang GT V8 for sub 30,000$ brand new when the dollar was at its weakest. But it would still have ended up costing £30,000 over here due to taxes.

Theres also the small matter of model reports. Has anybody got one for the Ford Ute yet ?
