Worth Selling?

Skywalker - Facelift doesn't look as good as pre-facelift IMHO :(

Only doubt/worry i have regarding the ZT is sourcing parts, i'm not that clued up on how easy/difficult it would be to source replacement parts for them?!

Personally I'd avoid where possible selling to a friend. For one thing, what do you do if he has engine failure? Chances are that you're left with a scenario of:
1. He makes you feel really bad about buying a car from you that's had problems, and you end up getting involved, probably financially.
2. You ignore it and potentially result in issues with your "friend" relationship.

Avoid it like the plague if you can.

I'll be looking to spend upto £4k-£5k, on the list at the moment are..

- MG ZT
- Mondeo ST220
- Octavia VRs

all the same type of car as your ST24, may aswell keep it if your happy with it.

hardly that much of an upgrade, especially at a cost of 3-4k extra.

Your Mondeo looks about as good as a mk2 can, all the other cars you've mentioned are not significantly better imo. Look at the performance figures for a ZT 190, they aren't that great, 190hp isn't a lot in a car that size/weight.

Don't be fooled into thinking the grass is always greener, you Mondy is pretty fast, cheap to run and still looks good. Unless you were going to get something significantly better I wouldn't bother.

I had the same problem with a car I sold to a mate years ago, had never missed a beat with me, just general maintenance, sold it to a mate, cheap and then everything went wrong!

I would never sell a car to a mate again after that, my mate never made me feel bad, he had known the car for the 4-5 years I owned it, I just felt bad, as he bought if from me as a cheap runaround after I got a company car, and he ended up spending shed loads on it.

A newer car with less mileage and war wounds? The ST24 may look good in pictures, but shallow dents, scratches and rust (on the arches) keep appearing more and more.

I'm not really sure what you would class as an "upgrade" then, if you can offer some options please do :)

I'd be happy to keep it for another 6-12 months if i could find something worth saving for.

The only other car/s i could think of were BMW 330/330d or 530/530d.
