Is it possible to cut your own hair? (Short back and sides)

It took a few goes to get it perfect but I used to do mine with the clippers. No.8 on top graded down with the other clippers to a no.2 on the back/sides and blend the ends in with a no.1

I've had some utterly dire haircuts locally and I don't have a lot of hair left so I think it might be time to start doing it myself again.

Cut my own hair aswell, grew it out for about 18months, bit more, was getting silly long and got fed up with it one day so cut it myself, pretty much a perfect haircut aswell.

Done it several times since and haven't got as good a cut as normal but still very decent.

The one place around here that wasn't a ridiculous £40 a cut place the main guy there left after like 30 years there, replacement sucks so can't be bothered going back. In my life I've never paid more than, £7 for a haircut, wouldn't pay more than £15 tbh.

First attempt because my hair was so long I smegged around with stupid haircuts for a couple days for a laugh, had a very respectable looking very short mohawk(RVP style). Couldn't get it right the last time so ended up with a normal short back and sides.

Remember cuttin my own hair when i was young, but cause the clippers vibrated so much my arm ended up aching and i put train lines on my head.

Now i just get my stepmum to do it.

Is it really worth it for the sake of £8?

£8? I wish. £20 for a simple cut. :(

Need mine done again really, think I'll go first day back in Bournemouth, although there aren't any awesome walk-in places and I'm not a fan of salons. :p

It is tempting to get some clippers and have a go, but I know I'll end up with the worst hair ever/none left. :p

Do you not begrudge handing over £20 for 10-20 mins work?

I get charged £6.50 at my local barbers for a short back and sides and they even thin it out and stick some gel on :p.

Have been doing mine for the past god knows how many years, easy with a good set of clippers, although need someone to clean up round the back as i'm a hairy bugger.

Not really no, normally in there for nearly an hour. :)

Always done with the scissors and they always do a good job, if I'm there for 20mins then they've done a bad job with the scissors. ;)

I would post pictures, but, well, I can't be bothered to upload some as I've cleaned out most of my PB account.

bought myself a nice of wahl clippers recently. dont have the thick hair of my youth, so now i have grade 2 on the top and 1 on the back 'n' sides. just had a top-up on the back 'n' sides today, feels so much better. 2 haircuts and its already paid for itself :)

I've been cutting my own hair for years. It saves a fortune. Mind you I have lost most of my hair so I just clip it really short.
