hi guys..quick question for you.

I've just pre ordered Win 7 which comes out on Oct 22nd, so can I download Win7 now and install it on my new system then just enter my key from retail box when it arrives?

Reason being is I've just got a new pc and I dont want to have to install everything again when my retail copy of win 7 arrives.

Cheers
Ferret

Have you got a link to a legimate download source pls? It says its no longer available at Microsoft
The RTM has never been available for end users to download, you're looking at a page for the release client.

Legitimate downloads are available for Microsoft partners, OEM suppliers, volume license customers, IT professionals, developers and academic institutions through sites like Technet, MSDN and MSDNAA.

Obviously RTM builds have been leaked onto the net as well. But unless you can verify the iso has been untouched, you run the risk of getting an early frankenstein build or an iso which may have been tampered with in some way.

Can't you just get the 90 day Enterprise trial which will downgrade when you enter a proper key?

here are the SHA1 checksums for the Windows 7 x64 RTM ISO files:
Ultimate: 326327CC2FF9F05379F5058C41BE6BC5E004BAA7
Professional: 50127304441A793EE51B3F501289F6599A559E9F
Home Premium: 336779EA6B65F63E11A609B4D021439C47AB315B

Download the Enterprise 90 day trial and have a play for a month, then do a fresh install when you get your disc.

I can't wait for it to come but due to some insane restrictions enforced by Microsoft my 3 copies are getting sent to my mum's house and i'll have to wait for her to send the disk to me :(

Unless I can get my hands on an iso but then are their different versions of the iso I presume in europe the iso will be different due to the Media Player / explorer removal. Will my downloaded iso work?

Blah I'll just wait for the disk. lol

they've scrapped the windows 'N', so you'll get IE and Media Player with the OS

all you'll need is the key from your box..

Me too, I'm actually looking forward to spending the weekend of release flattening my pc and starting again with a brand new OS... God I'm sad :o
