^ Need for Speed Shift ^

Is it like that with all the cars Skeeter?

In the demo I have tried the Elise the Viper and the GTR and fiddeled with the settings on all of them and it doesnt change it. I know whats happening, its the same thing that happens in things like GTR Evolution and the like. Its treating the pad as a steering wheel, and taking to much turn in from the stick and making the wheels turn to much, which looses grip, and causes understeer. If I move the stick very slightly i can turn, but thats not enough, but if you stick more than about 30% stick movement in, you get understeer, and any more than about 50% and you loose all front end grip and go straight on. Most games designed for a controller counter this by reducing the available angle of turn available when at speed, but Shift doesnt seem to. I can see how it would be fine with a wheel, but seen as I dont have the money for one, id like it to be playable with a pad. Basically, it seems to go to full lock or atleast to much lock to overcome grip way to quickly.

Gonna fiddle with the sensitivity settings some more.

finnally unlocked Tier 3 and I still have ONE car, my trusty old Nissan 200SX S13, now tuned to level 3 :) still going strong :)

Its a good game, but one thing i find strange is that, for example i will drive the slowest car, then jump in a really fast car and it doesent feel any faster, it "feels" the same, buildings , trees etc all seem to go past me at the same speed, theres no "sense of speed" to me , anyone else feel the same?

I just installed this game today, and it is running like crap on my rig...

It is only when I go into corners when there are lots of other cars there to, it starts jerking a lot, and although it is still playable it is really annoying, so annoying that I can't bare to play it and turn it off in a rage!!!

I haven't read through this entire thread as I am really tired now, but I was wondering if any of you guys here are having similar issues as me?

I'm running it on the system that I have in my sig..

Oh, and I have even tried lowering the graphics settings in game and in the nvidia control panel, but it doesn't make any difference, well, apart from making the graphics look garbage, it still twitches about in corners.. :(

Im playing the demo. Can you clear up the god awfull turn in understeer that happens at any speed in any car in the control setting some how? Ive fiddled with the settings, dropped the dead zones right down, lowered the sensitivity and turned off aids, but i still get masses of tyre squeel when turning in, or just no turn in and straight on, regardless of how much stick movement I use (360 pad)?

Have to say I experience the similar with a G25 - GTR2 still appeals to me more! And I wanted to like this game.

So is this going to run like crap on my rig (in sig)..as I m getting a G25 soon..... and I want to try it on more than DRit and Grid

be fine mate, works a treat on mine, but bare in mind you have an ATI card, and from what ive read on this thread, this game doesent like ATI cards very much

Just got the full game installed yesterday haven't played too much, theres a little bit of stuttering every now and then on my rig, see my sig.

But my bro's computer runs like crap :( he's using a 260GTX so it seems to be a problem with Nvidia's cards and there drives.

I have an ATI card and it runs great, max settings at 1680x1050, smooth framerate, no "micro-stuttering" (though I've never seen that in any game myself) - it must just be a bit picky with some setups.

No-one else having issues running this game?

I honestly can't play it because the stuttering in corners are so irratating. :(

your rig should have absolutely no problem with this game, try the basics.. install after a defrag , update all the latest drivers ... nVidia's 190.62 here

im running a stock c2d e6700 @ 2.67Ghz, 4gig ram , GTX280 1920*1200 all maxed with 4xAA and its smooth even with a full grid..

ive even lobbed an older 8800GTX in the machine and the perfromance was practically as good... the majority of users on here have far superior hardware so i can only assume its general setup?

its more the other way around, ATi users have had the problems with gfx drivers ...

the only thing really is to check the performance of ones PC, close down the usual programs running in the background unplug any devices not needed etc etc

Anyone up for a Time Trial Championship?

Say we take a vote on a vehicle and track and people have a week to set a quick lap. The winner would then go on to select the vehicle and track for the next week or we can just take a vote again.

Sound good?

have to say I'm absolutely loving this now. Best racing game ever on the pc imo. I love the feel of it and the career mode is cracking!

Am I right in thinking though that this is severely CPU limited? I get the same kind of fps at 1920x1080 8xAA 16XAF (around 45) as I get at 1280x720 with 2XAA and Trilinear

Not that I'm really complaining, it looks bloody awesome at full whack and is still smooth enough to drive easily. Get the odd dip down to around 30 if there's a bunch of cars in front of me but still feels ok at that.

i have a e7200 overclock to 3.8ghz 2gb of ram and a 9600gt nividia works fine here? How do you find out how much fps its running in game ? 20 inch monitor vsync on 4x aa seems fine to me .
