Sapphire 5870 stock today Question

I was told over the phone yesterday that the sapphire cards would be in today & will be shipped out for delivery tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath though as they have now told me I'd have the card last Thursday, then Monday, then today & now tomorrow....

Just phoned up (again) & swapped the sapphire for a HIS as there's still no word on the sapphires. I'm not bothered about the extra years warranty. It'll be replaced by then. Atleast I'm getting it tomorrow :-)

I was considering waiting for the Sapphire card yesterday.

Instead I went ahead and ordered the HIS and it arrived today :D

1year warranty but hey, in 1 year the card will loose most of its value plus i've never had an ATI card die on me.

The woman on the phone told me they had some in stock. I've just checked though & it's still in the warehouse queue & the his cards show as out of stock...

What's going on with these people?

The whole 5870 launch with OCUK has been a farce from the start with stock promised that doesnt turn up and stock advertised that was never there to begin with.

Add to that the lack of a real time stock/ordering system and it's a recipe for mass frustration.

i'm currently waiting for a sapphire and i've received a webnote stating they should be in before the end of the week.

yes it has been a bit of a farce but i can't blame ocuk for that.

they are only relaying what distributors are telling them.

I'm still gonna wait for my sapphire and not moan about them as they are giving me free delivery just because i post on their forum. can't complain really

hehe, OUCK didnt even had the time to list them on their website and was sold out within hours.

OCUK was the only one who had them last week hehe = )

Fatboy was a big help in getting my 5870.

Well I rang back & sure enough there were not actually any HIS cards so I swapped the order back to a Sapphire. The latest from the phone guy was that the cards left America on the 27th & should have been in England on the 28th. Its anyone's guess where they are now but it shouldn't be too much longer. He was optimistic about them possibly coming in this afternoon still (I spoke to him at 16:00) but to say I've heard that before would be an understatement!

We'll all just have to wait & see I suppose.

I'll probably qualify for free delivery by the time they come into stock. Do you think they'll refund it? :D

Rather annoying that I ordered a PC with a 5870 on Sunday when they listed cards in stock; but according to the reply to my webnote they now don't expect to get any in till Thursday or Friday making a Saturday delivery of the assembled & tested system seemingly unlikely :(

You're wrong on many counts here. The XFX 5870 were listed when there was no stock, people were told their order had been fulfilled when it hadn't and plenty of other retailers had stock last week.

And I agree fatboy did a herculean task in getting the stock he did and setting a good launch day price, shame he was let down by the OCUK ordering and stock control system which quite clearly isnt realtime and is poor.

Don't know why you don't just buy elsewhere.

Indeed there are plenty in stock elsewhere for the same price, seems a bit stupid to wait when you can have now really.

The stars are bright and they are telling you to go get that graphics card, i mean you want the latest technology now don't you? :p
