only if they allow you to, otherwise you'd have to detain them and wait for police.
I dont ask, i just do. How else can you get £100's worth of stuff from up a guys jacket?

report him back
well generally most **** themselves so much when they get caught a polite request will have them chuck it all out onto the floor/desk or wherever you have them detained. if they refuse there's nothing you can do but make sure they're still on the premises when the rozzers turn up

Thats acceptable as the security guard is there to make sure people arent stealing from the shop.
If the manager wants to press charges, that the only time he calls the cops, wish i could do it. On the times he has called them, i chucked the scrote into the ladies toilet and stood outside it, he cant get out.![]()
semi-pro said:You should be aware that you are probably committing an offence then. Asking them politely may not be the most effective way of achieving your goal but it also doesn't leave you open to charges of having committed an illegal search.
haha! i only say what i say from talking to the security guards at my old place of work, we were quite pally and i used to tip them off quite a bit as part of my job necessitated me meandering around the shop floor.
police were always called unless it was something really minor like muppets trying to steal gift cards (you know, the ones that have absolutely NO value until you run them through the till) as the person stealing might be stealing from many shops in the local area, they might already be on the list so to speak.
Get a black friend to say he was in the car with you and the guy threw a banana at him.
I see your point, all shop-lifting is a crime, but at the moment, its the boss's decision on wether or not dibble are called. I am trying to get more 'power' so to speak. I NEED the power the call dibble myself!
nothing stopping you from refusing, he would then have to decide whether to call the police or not
Are they seriously saying they will reprimand you for calling the police? I don't do employment law, but that seems like something that could give rise to unfair dismissal to me... anyone like to chime in on this?I am trying to get more 'power' so to speak. I NEED the power the call dibble myself!

Ive called the police a couple of times, the boss just goes nuts, saying things like there was no need, and he only tried stealing this, that and the other!
