I own an Auto so not really upto date on the cost of the clutch change so the OP will actually need extra deep pockets if they come in at £900 :eek:

If I hadn't decided to buy a 200sx I would have bought one of these (in 190 flavour). Great cars for cheap $$$$.

one of the lads at work has the 180 I think, Had a lift home in it when I drained the battery on my old car. Goes like stink, handles well for a big car. Only downside was the Radio on the interior, looks like it belongs in a bottom of the range car and would be a sod to replace due to the size of it.
His thermostat has gone so far, although he changed that himself with the help of a haynes manual and a lot of finger crossing as he hasn't worked on an engine like that before haha.

I'm 99% sure the 75 is different and doesn't have this issue. I'm really sure i read somewhere that the reason the MG ZT has hardly any footroom and no foot rest is because they tried to do something "clever" to make room for the exhaust to go underneath on the cheap.
 
The V8 ZT has a smaller footwell than the inline 4, V6 and diesel ZTs (and no foot rest like the others) as they had to redesign the footwell to fit the stronger (and larger) gearbox required for the V8

I'd love a V8 and I hope to be able to buy one in a few years

Another point worth mentioning is that the V8 is rear wheel drive where as all other ZTs (and 75s) are front wheel drive

More like the north-south gearbox and propshaft than having anything to do with it having a big engine ;)

Prodrive did a lot of the work for the RWD aswell its worth noting.
 
Guess so, and yep, it's false

The 75 isn't based on any BMW floorplan - it's all new. The Z-axle on the FWD models is one of the parts from BMW though

The so called 'transmission tunnel' is just to strengthen the shell and it's one of the contributing factors to the stiffness of the 75

Massively false. If it was so close to the 5, why did the ZT 260 version have to go to Prodrive for such extensive modification to take a RWD layout? Surely if it was a 5 chassis it would have dropped right in!? 'Oh but it has a transmission tunnel in the FWD versions' I hear them say. A tunnel barely capable of housing a lollipop stick, not to mention most cars have tunnels for strength, even my Fiesta.

I swear the 75/ZT is subject to some of the most absurd rumours.
