Epic launch fail by ATI?

as others have said the 5850 wasn't due out until this week.

I have seen other retailers have stock though so a build could have been sourced through various companies unless ocuk are building it for you.?

as for these fanboy comments sometimes they are justified regardless of how annoying they sound.

if Nvidia get a smooth launch imagine the trolls that'll come out slating ATI.
this forum will be unbearable

They haven't failed in the slightest, every highly anticipated GPU launch is like this.

Remember the hassle of trying to get an 8800gt 2 years or so back? It took me almost a month to get one - as I refused to buy from sellers charging massively over the RRP.

Having slightly under the demand is good for business, it's free publicity and makes the product more desireable.

agreed , end of the thread .

I bring out the fanboy comment extremely rarely, and I meant it, sorry but people don't say "epic fail + company name" as a thread, especially when the thread is completely and utterly inaccurate, and frankly entirely stupid, without being a fanboy.

Epic fail + company name + completely inaccurate information, yup, the number of threads like that not slating the company from a non fanboy add up to the millions, really they do.

To be fair, theres a few situations where they won't be started by fanboys, that will be when its started by someone who simply doesn't know what he's talking about.

You started a thread complaining about lack of stock of a card launched, yesterday, and almost every major store in the UK looks to be getting 100's in stock on monday.

Doesn't leave many options fanboy, or not that bright. Considering the widely available information and listed stockdates around the web, and the complete inaccuracy of your other information , fanboy seemed most obvious.

do you have a fear of the word fan or boy?

you have jumped on every thread which mentions it.

being a fan of something is fine yet slating the oposition for a simple thing like stock is madness and smells of being a boyfan and trying to hurt the opositions rep by making such comments.

As like all the driver issue threads which appear and continue to be quoted even though majority of these issues are years old but stay around like a bad smell because it's a good sauce of reference for bashing ati when the need arrises.

hasn't there been issues with the latest batch of Nv drivers or something?

i've had both ATI and Nvidia and not had any issues. Maybe i'm one of the lucky ones or these issues only arrise if the end user tries to mess with the bios/volts/clock etc and causes it to fall over.

no i havent, i commented on one of your posts because it was the same nonsense.

Did the OP compare ati to nvidia? no. did he even mention nvidia? no, other than ATi having the chance to get the jump on. So how does that make the op a 'fanboy'? it doesnt, does it?

oh no, company X failed so i simply MUST love company Y!

He wouldnt be buying the card if he was one.

Wow! Is this what spending 5+ years on a forum & 5,000+ posts later does to a person?

By the way i can name 5 sites that offer custom built gaming rigs that do not have the cards yet.

But you are frankly the most pathetic geek i have ever found on a forum. Go stroke your ATI d*ldo.

Now i realise they gave those overpriced chumps(Dell) the majority of the first stock they had of the new cards.

Over a week later, not a single 5850 can be found, & the 5870's are popping up in little numbers.

Most sites don't even have them listed still.

ATI get the chance to steal a march on the overpriced Nvidia, and what do they do?

Fail......

Pretty annoying, im about a week away from getting a new rig, and the little sign of the 5850's is worrying & as i say very annoying.

Does any company ever prepare for these launches right:rolleyes:
Demand is too high unfortunatley. Everyone wants this daddy card.
And yes your post is a bit innacurate and slightly idiotic.

why is it nonsense?

people have got into the habbit of believing everything in the graphics card world which is green is the best and the red side are awful because of the apparent failure rate of the drivers or failure to release drivers which work first time or on launch there aren't enough cards.

yet because of this they then continue to spout rubbish and bad mouthing of a company which isn't warrented or correct.

both ATI and Nvidia are as bad as each other for various issues. One the drivers the other for locking out hardware features against there competitor.

and to sit on one side of the fence and bash the other in my eyes is being a fanboy and is ridiculous.

because you're entire argument is based on something he didnt do. thats why and that is what's so frustrating. It's not the people in it to cause trouble, but the know it all's obsessed in labeling everybody who dares comment a 'fanboy'. Go visit the home cinema forum, same attitude there. go to cars, same attitude. its bile.

What are you talking about now.
what argument with the OP?! i'm discussing how fanboys generate there arguments etc not how nutter has worded his op.

I'm a little disappointed by the way ATI have handled the launch of the 5850 but only because the 5870 was available to buy on the day they released the 5870 reviews and lifted the NDA.

The 5850 NDA ended a couple of days ago.

I dont think demand is too high (based on the numbers ocuk have mentioned)
No suprise ati were in a race to get 5870 out the door asap, the parts that went to dell also need to be taken into account.

Well we must be referring to 5850 as the sapphire 5870 has been in stock yesterday and still is.

Clearly there is a reason the 5850 is less available. Basically its price/perf makes the 5870 look very bad, ati are well aware of this

Since launch there has been plenty of stock of 5870, I've been keeping an eye on all major etailers and the 5870 has been in stock every day in 2+ etailers.

I'm not saying there was a glut but it was always to be found in stock somewhere.
