Looking for some new storage drives soon, and I was just wondering if the WD Greens are good for storing media, and playing it back?

I know they have the variable speed on them, so are they good for playing music and movies off?

they're perfect for this

you have to remember even though the greens are considered 'slower' they still slam drives from 3+ years ago :)

80mb read speed etc

Just installed 3 of these (2x1.5TB and 1x1TB) in a WHS server for backup/playback and no problems so far.

They are fine when you use them as a normal drive. I had two installed as mirror raid, and they became so slow, even the 720P HD movies were lagging every couple mintues.

I had samsung drives before (F2 5400 RPM) as RAID, and they were perfect. Looks like WD Green is slower than Samsung F2.

I am talking about the WD WD15EADS & Samsung HD154UI.
