Is there any kind of game on the pc that you can just drive about on?

Like you can on gta sort of thing.

The only one I have found so far is driving simulator 2009 but the graphics are awful:eek:

I got a free copy of Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box with a graphics card a while back, I'm pretty sure you could drive around freely on that

Fuel by Codemasters. Only £10 online now.

Great game, great gfx, pure arcade gameplay so unrealistic physics + handing but largest gameplay area of any game ever made and runs very well on older PC's.

I'd definitely say TDU here.

But some other things that you may want to look at if you're bored of standard track racing, is some of the big road circuits availible for games like GTREvo and rFactor. Granted they're just a single road with no choices in direction, but they're far more interesting than a normal track.

Another vote in for Test Drive Unlimited.

I only played it with my friend for a few days but it really is "Free Roaming" driving.

Not quite open but for realism, I'd suggest Live For Speed, and join a Cruise server. Its like cops n robbers, start off with a banger, earn money by driving, buy better cars, save up and tease the cops for a chase, 32 players, all human. The driving realism is very good, best I've come across.
The catch is the 'roads' are the race tracks with barriers and cones separating lanes, some big tracks though.
