Solder points didn't match up, you can tell that the card is basically a botch up using old hacked up cards glued together.

You can even see that the PCB it's using has been cut down at the end.

It's obviously a long card that's had the last 3-5CM chopped off the end, you can even see they haven't bothered to remove stickers on the board, they've just cut right through them and to top it off, they place a backplate on the card that blocks off the SLI finger. The backplate itself though makes me suspicious, it's like it has been placed there to stop people from seeing the GPU solder points as that'd be the biggest give away that it was a fake.

Is there a link with some pics? Did they use woodscrews also? Sounds like a good project for an art class!

If you look at the end of the board, you can see what appear to be parts of two stickers.






You can see a bit closer now, this board has blatantly been chopped, there's a red line that looks like a guide line for the chopping




Notice the way the 8 pin connector doesn't line up with the 8 solder pads? You can also see 2 lone solder pads where the board has been cut, and my guess is that was where a 6 pin connector used to be.

Also take note that the 6 pin connector on the side doesn't connect up to anything. From this angle it's more obvious to me that the board had been hacked off, I've never seen solder points so close to the edge of a PCB, doesn't look right at all, as well as there being a screw hole right where the 6 pin connector is.

Then you have the backplate, which I think is a cover up of the traces that go to and from the GPU as well as a cover up to stop people seeing the size. You can't tell what size the GPU is, so you can't see for sure if it's using an old PCB from an other card.

Without the cover you'd see that it wasn't a fermi board as the GPU is supposed to be nVidia's biggest yet.

I'm having doubts that fermi is in any state ready to be released in early 2010 to be honest.

It screams desperate scramble to me, maybe to satisfy share holders or damage control in response to the 5800s or even both.

But I don't think they've got anything to compete with, surely they'd have had fermi boards floating about for months now, I seem to recall every release of a new graphics card we've seen in the last 5 years, there have been early engineering samples doing the rounds months before the card is even announced officially.

I'm sure we heard there were engineering samples of the 5800s going around in early 2009.

I appreciate that, but seriously, there never seems to be anything that gets done about these trolls unless they've pushed it beyond too many times.

I've supposedly got serious issues for a comment that made sense, he's just defending another troll who shares his own views, this isn't the only thread he's done it in but it seems to take a lot for them to stop it.

I appreciate people have different opinions, of course I do, but there's no need for him to be saying things like that.

Take a look at the content. I'm not defending ATi/AMD I'm defending the truth about things.

If people say nonsense about anything I'll say something, it just so happens that the majority of nonsense people come out with is pro-nVidia anti ATi nonsense that's completely unfounded.

I'm not alone in my complaints about nVidia, not by a long shot. Maybe I'm just one of the more vocal members on here.

I'm not getting banned because I'm not trolling people for a reaction.

Last time I looked Nvidia has a 27.7% market share. Much less then 27% if you count mobile phone GPU's and other mobile device liek laptops.

I had thought NV had some serious R&D budget, and while they I always figured they were on the wrong track with regards to the inefficient and power-hungry cards they were producing, I never thought for a second that it would come to this. I will be eagerly awaiting more news either way. If true its a sad day for the GPU industry.

I was complaining about unecessary slating, which is what Duran does the most. He's derailed a number of threads because he just HAD to come and inform us that we're idiots for buying ATi and that everyone should buy nVidia because you will ALWAYS get problems with an ATi card.

It's not that he's slating ATi, he's talking complete and utter BS.

Hey, I complain about nVidia because I don't like what they do, not because I like ATi.

It's a bit funny that those type of comments come from people with the same attitude on this forum.

Both rimmer and Duran go into threads just to let people know how much ATi suck, how bad their drivers are and how great nVidia is.

Again, I don't care that they're complaining about ATi, but if you're gonna moan about something, best make sure it's true rather than biased nonsense that has no evidence out there to support their claims.

It's a case of this is the 10th or so time that they've done something like this. I'm not angry, I'm just being blunt.

It's ridiculous getting ragged on and accused of doing what the people ragging on me are doing.

One of them was ragging on you pre-5800 release and they were being relentless, yet some people around here deem that perfectly fine and good.

The minute I say anything quash the non-sense these fools are coming out with and I get ragged on for it.

So I'm a fanboy for telling people who are making things up to stop it. I'm an ATi fanboy for not liking nVidia? What's there to like when they've been acting so underhanded lately? I'm a consumer, it's in mine, and every other consumer's best interests for nVidia to stop what they're doing.

I've had one of them trying to threaten me by telling me to watch my back if I go to the OcUK 3D gaming event this saturday.

I don't have a clue what they thought they were gonna do or why they even said it, but still, it was one of the resident nVidia trolls.

But it's just another thing to highlight.
