I have two WD Greens unraided. When I open a folder like my games or movies it takes like upto 7 seconds to open and playing music is slow too sometimes. Are they broke?

At a guess your power options are set to spin disks down after a period of inactivity. It takes a good few seconds for the drive to wake up and get up to speed before it can respond to the first request.

Strange, i have a 1TB WD Green that i use in an external USB2 caddy. Theres a folder of films thats 300GB in size, it takes around 3 seconds to open. Also 250GB of music that all opens instantly in winamp

The scanning of the drive when connected takes quite a while, but then i always cancel it anyway. (Why does it scan through the drive and how can i cancel this?)

Yep, stupid thing looks like it browses through all the files as soon as its connected. I think it does the same in the background on my wdtv
I think you can set the AutoPlay properties on the drive but I can't remember where. I've left it on for my external because sometimes it isn't detected by the SATA card, if the box doesn't come up I know I need to scan for hardware changes.

The thing is, it never did this on Windows XP -_-
Different OS, different default power settings.
