JSA outweighs working part time...

this thread simply reminds me why I hate paying my hard earned taxes...

makes blood boil

please read the whole thread... ive paid taxes before therfore im entitled to JSA. and im going to take the job if its given to me aslong as they understand i will be cycling there.

cycling is a very easy possibility

im worried about is the employer not taking kindly to it and thinking im gonna be sweaty and covered in salt all the time. what shall i say when im asked about how im gonna get to/from there ?

Covered in salt all the time? I managed to cycle to work most of the time (health permiting) and I have never been covered in salt! As for sweat, you can always change at work!

Just say that "you have your own transport".

JSA is a joke, the amount of times they have messed up my claims and i'm left with no money is stupid. Its not my fault somebody failed to press a button yet i suffer? the staff at the job centre don't want to help either, they just tell you to sign the sheet and leave.

I'm dreading going to this new deal thing if i haven't found a job by christmas, spending all day in what is essentially a prison with no access to the resources i need to find a job!

The new deal courses are annoying - very rarely do they actually help anyone to get work... maybe 1% - for most people they just get in the way of finding real employment... but thats the job center through and through.

Its a farce, their is something like 90+ different combinations of benefits, its crazy just tried to see if I could get working tax credits, either need a kid or work 30+ hours I work 25 at the moment so cant

Would you qualify for income support too?

Less than 16 hrs a week, 16 to 59 yrs old, low income - sounds about right?

But if you earn £65+ a week that's like 12 hours a week then you cant claim it because the government says you can live off that. I mean who works and and can afford to have a house bills on less than £65, its all geared up for people who don't want to work.

Couldnt do it. I like having a job,it keeps me busy rather than bumming round the house 24/7. Ive got a lot of mates now that I wouldnt have if i didnt work where I did. Also, its nice having the option to work more hours where they are available to get a bigger paycheque, whereas with the dole your stuck with the same payment every time.

lol where did you hear that ? from a lazy mate ? you spend the week improving your cv and cover letters and looking for jobs. when my bro did it a fair whack of the class including him got jobs

i heard it from my girlfriend who did it at the same place i would have to, the place is full of people that don't want to work and staff that don't want to get stabbed. the place doesn't help anybody.

so if theres a room full of people who dont want to work and you that does want to work then who do you think will get the jobs ?
aslong as your not picky then the places that deal with new deal DO improve your chance of finding work

If your going to engage in a discussion maybe read what the other person is saying, he has a few concerns which seem valid given the state of how some government programmes are run and you are being nieve and ignorant back.

If you are going to cycle just change when you get there, like others have pointed out.

When I worked in a club, we were given taxis home, as part of their kind of duty of care to their employees, with us finishing in the middle of the night. It sometimes mean't sharing the ride home with other people, rather than individual taxis though to cut down on the costs. I personally had a car though.

That also had it's downsides, as our manager would try and use people who had cars to give others lifts to cut down again on the taxi costs.

While it's great that you are going to get a job, over living on the JSA, it might be worth looking for a job closer to you, although you obviously want to do this for fun.

The danger is that they might look you over because you aren't close enough to their premises, and again without your own transport, if they are paying for a cab for you home everynight, they could probably employ somebody else.

Technically you are entitled to JSA if you can't find a job.

And having "paid your taxes" doesn't mean it sits in a big pot somewhere waiting for you to claim it back. It pays for running the country.

my parents are now telling me to get lost and its a stupid job i might aswell stay on the dole its better money "your earning £2 a hour" according to my dad since he says i have to subtract the dole of what im going to earn (how can i reply to this hes doing my head in) .... im shure they just want to express there dislike against anything i do, they hate the idea that im going in the army and they now this. Im starting to think they would rather me never work.

Take the job.

It why JSA should be tied to compulsary attendance for voluntary work, or some form of compulsary training, or better some form of national service (not military related).

If they want JSA then get the hell down somewhere 9-5 every single day they want paid for JSA, many would stop claiming it, and lots would go find jobs.

This isn't aimed at the folks who have worked all their lives and have been paid off recently, and are now claiming, its aimed at the 1.5million others who didn't ever bloody work, its part of the reason we're in such problems. Billions each year in free cash to people doing nothing, who know its better to do nothing than do something.

Make the something compulsary.

Make this man priminister.

Grow a back bone and take charge of your own life.

Look, its easier to get a job whilst you are employed, you shouldn't be staying at home claiming of us that work are arses off. I have a job cleaning, up at 4am every morning, its not my favourite choice of career but at least i get up and go out and earn my own money instead of sitting at home and claiming off the dole living off facebook.

I started part time, i'm now getting 40-60hrs a week and next in line for supervisor. You get your foot in the door and gain self respect as an honest worker.

Go for the job then enjoy spending your OWN MONEY at the end of the week. It's a good feeling.
