right i got me new corsair h50 today for the 1156,its the first time i have seen a product that has the paste already applied to the unit, is this ok to use?

or should i put some mx-3 on it instead?

whats the best method on applying the paste on this unit if i go the mx-3 route?

i have always smeared or grain size blob on the cpu and push down.

cheers

ok cheers dude i give it ago and see how it runs, yes the 1150 bracket is included in the box,but i must stress its not from ocuk before everyone goes and order it as they not got em yet, they only came on sale yesterday from where i got it from

I'd be tempted to removed the pre applied stuff and wazz some AS5 or something on.

has anyone tried the pre applied paste or does everyone just put new on?

if thats the case i got some mx-5 i put a pea size blob in middle, would be nice to hear some feedback on whether peeps have used the pre-applied or used mx-5 and noticed any temp differances

cheers

im probably removing the paste and adding Arctic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Compound pleease tell me any1 if i really need to do this or not ?.

has any1 got better temp readigns with a better combound and how did they apply it ? to the chip or to the H50

well ive just run a couple of tests with the TIM that comes with the H50 and some Arctic Silver 5

The H50 stuff ran 1 degree cooler that the AS5 at the same ambient temp, so there wasnt really anything in it, i'd say if you dont have any other stuff handy just leave the TIM on that came with it

Tomorrow i need to check on whats cooler , intaking air or exhausting air, ive got it set up in push/pull to intake at the moment

thats interesting tests there,so what is the tim they use then i wonder, yes keep me informed mate i anit done mine yet aint had chance till morning so its good that i now know there's no differance.

regarding the fans i do wonder why they want to blow air which would be warm air into the case rather than blowing through the rad and out of case?

Yeah i was abit worried by intake too but my case has a 200mm fan at the top sucking air out so i feel little safer

With regard to my previous post i did notice when i rebooted a few minutes ago the temps where exactly the same between the TIM and AS5, so in my tests atleast there really is nothing in it.

i think i will try air blowing out of case first see how that goes,i have the corsair 800d case so it gonna be interesting testing different ways,i have 3 fans blowing out at top of case.

Ok well ive been pottering around with this H50 today, i found that INTAKE worked out around 2 degree's cooler than exhaust thats with my push and pull set up, i also found that two apaches in push/pull proved no cooler than the standard corsair/antec fans ive got in there which surprised me abit

I also found that a lower speed akasa cooler i had knocking about was just as cool as the standard corsair one that comes with the H50 but it was slightly quieter

no doubt ppl get different results depending on their machines, those where my findings today :)

Yeah its what you like really. Im using the standard corsair fan as intake and a cheap jeantech one as pull inside the rad. Temps are fine with no problems. 68degs full load 3.7ghz 1.175v.

stupid question alert coming lol!!!

how you do this push pull never done it before?

i have got one already as stated in manual blowing in through the rad so hows the other one go on which way ect

Just set it up as shown in the manual then have another fan sucking air from the rad into the case so the aiflow is going the same way

like so:

=fan> |rad| =fan>

hope that explains it rick :)

i have my h50 rad mounted as a push pull exhaust at the back of my antec 900 case.

I'm using mx-3 paste, unfortunately i can't give you a good estimation compared to the standard stuff, i cleaned it off my h50 before i got hold of some as5, unfortunately for me my mate who picked it up for me left it at home 200 miles away in Leeds, so i went and bought some dodgy ripoff stuff from ****** cause i was desperate. It actually wasn't too bad but the mx-3 i replaced it with a couple of days later is a few degrees cooler.

what temps are you getting idle not sure if mines ok or not,im in bios and i see the cpu temp is 46c?

im doing push/pull on the rad and 3 exhaust's at top

I'll check when I get home, but I believe im at around 48-50 idle in a warmish room at 3.8Ghz constant clock speed.
