in what way? change to another gmail account? you can just add another one by highlighting the old account and selecting New Account. Or you can edit settings by pressing the menu button whilst on the mail screen and selecting more then settings.

New on here but been following this thread last few days, took delivery of new Hero just yesterday :D

Deal was as follows:

Quidco £40 cashback at Mobiles.co.uk for contract phone sale

HTC Hero - handset £100
24 month contract

Works out at £22.50 p/m! Pretty good IMHO. My transaction didn't track at Quidco, although the money for the handset hasn't been taken from my account yet so will wait and see. Can lodge an inquiry after 14 days if necessary. Also the phone is unlocked and unbranded so I immediately upgraded to the newest HTC ROM.

Stoked with the phone, it's amazing! Only real disappointment is that I didn't realise how poor the BT is, e.g. no OBEX support, no PIM support, no PBAP support. So no file transfers, no syncing contacts with Outlook, no business card exchanges with other people, no phone book on the BT in my car!!! I wondered if 1.6 version of Android would fix any of these issues??? Anyone?

Also I can't for the life of me get the Sync app working on XP. Not absolutely necessary but it's disappointing all the same. Especially given that I can't sync Outlook with BT. Had to save my contacts as .csv, upload to Gmail and sync that to the phone! Hmm.

However overall the phone is stunning. Someone asked about apps, etc? Well I found this review:

Do like the review says and download the barcode scanner. Then you can scan the other app codes straight from your monitor and go right to the app in the store. My favourite so far is Gmote, which allows you to browse media files on your PC via wireless and control the playback/volume just like a remote control! You need to install the server on your PC first but it took me seconds and it works a charm for me.
 
Made a phone call to upgrades last night, having been offered an early upgrade. Got a Hero (T-Mobile G2) arriving later today.

They've allowed me to keep my old bronze tariff, on £22 a month for 12 months. Only thing is I had to pay £70 for the phone, which I thought was fair considering I'm upgrading 3 months early and the contract's only 12 months.

I'm interested to see how much of an improvement it is over my G1.
 
You'll have 15 months before you can upgrade. ;)

The new contract will replace the old one and add on any remaining months, so if you'd changed at the end of contract or now it'll still end at the same time next year/time.

That's how Orange do it anyway.

I'm technically on a 19 month contract as I changed contracts a month early. 19 months at £25pm is better than 18 at £25pm + 1 at £35pm. :p :)
 
Just bitten the bullet and gone for one of these thingys too. First internet phone majigger so will update from a nub perspective when it arrives :)
 
I've already got one of these excellent phones, but I've just recieved an email to get another one free on my work contract. The phone is coming from Bymobilephones.net for delivery tommorow. Just wondering if anyone knew this phone will be pre-locked to Orange or will it become locked to Orange only when I put the sim in? I know that it will be an unbranded phone (like my last) but as this is an upgrade as apposed to a fresh contract I thought it might be pre-locked to Orange?

Nope. My account's been updated, and I'm now due an upgrade in July 2010. :D

The hero signal quality iis awful. Anyone else having problems?

Ive tried all the radio roms and they all seem the same.

Im on tmobile.
 
Has anyone tested the internet-radio capabilities of the HTC Hero on here, just wondering as im interested in the phone but I'd want a radio, is it any good?
 
can someone help me out with what exactly i need to do to an orange hero? i tried updating i bleeive the rom and it messed up the texting, then reset settings and did it again but messed up the mobile network :( what do i need to do and in what order? there seems to be 3 or so things going around with different names but suggesting similar things so i'm confsued :(
 
Can some one try this to Make sure its not just me:

Open a web page. Click menu and press in the url box at the top. Now click search on the pad next to the trackball. Does the screen go mad? Mine does.

Yes, only when in landscape mode, not portrait.
