Hot hatch contenders for 5k

51/52 plate CTRs are around this price privately and not necessarily knackered either. An extra 1k will gaurantee a nicer pre-facelift (2001-2003).

I doubt insurance will be any better than an LCR mind you and likewise with a DC2. That just about leaves the 172. make sure you try specialist brokers like Noel Dazely, Chris Knott, Adrian Flux and A-Plan etc. as I find comparison sites rather inaccurate.

Been happy with the general car features of any of the many hire cars you've had? That Focus must have had a pretty decent drive, minus the non-hot-hatch power, even if it did read 130mph on that dual carriageway. :D

Haha, that was a good day :D

Any specialist insurers? :p

Maybe the hot hatch idea needs to go on hold until whatever multiplier is throwing your quotes through the roof is resolved?

Fun doesn't only come in IG17+ 180bhp+ packages.

Bit big i'd think dont think it'd have the 'drive like a knob' factor of a CTR etc.

Mk2 Golf GTi

reliabilty + saftey = lacking?

You sure about that. I always thought 5k would se eyou a nice example. 4k is more the rough end of the prices I thought.

I'll take a look, policys for DC2's are £600ish but I'm a mechanical noob and I don't know what to look for when looking at them and I fear of buying a nail :(

When did safety become a priority? :D

Someone round here bought one for something like 500 quid and has barely had to do anything on it. You could buy 5 of them and have 4 spares incase something goes wrong - or one really mint one :)

octavia vrs + remap to 210 bhp.

im 21 with 1 yrs ncb and its £800 to insure it

i payed £2500 for my 2003 vrs but a lot of proper mint low milers are 4k

I know what you mean, I know there's speacilsts for Jap stuff (got £600 on dc2) but I didn't know if they'll touch me on a VAG 1.8T (lol undeclared remap)

I'm sorry I have no idea what you're talking about.

:p

Screw the hot hatch, get yourself a proper car; an Mx-5! :D

Can only get on with the mk1 in black and they're all rust buckets for 2-3k. I dont want to pay 4k-5k for one as it's just not worth it in my opinion. And the Mk2 just looks 'gay' :/

Its a good budget for a nice vRS but I'm not sure its a car I would recommend where the main criteria is "a car that I can drive like a knob"

I would describe it as a great value all rounder though.

Haven't you got like 4-5 accidents in the last 5 years too? How is that possible :/

MK2 1.8i S, 140bhp, LSD and 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. Who cares if you look gay in it, you'll be going too fast to be recognised ;)
