Eyefinity on 3 1680x1050 monitors

Ive read reviews saying Eyefinity works best on anything about 1920 resolution, but i dont fancy wasting my current monitor. Would a single 5870 be wasted on 3 1680x1050 monitors?

3 x 1050 monitors is still over 5MP, so no, I wouldn't think a 5870 is wasted.

Remember at least one panel requires DisplayPort or an *active* DisplayPort adapter (i.e. not a straigh-through connector).

5MP is 5million pixels, which is a lot for a graphics card to cope with, hence a 5870 would not be wasted.

not by itself ~1.75 million per screen but 3 screens > 5MP.

In your dreams, seems to be the answer at the moment. :-/

I'd love to buy a 5780, to upgrade my 260GTX, 3x1680x1050 setup, but there seem to be a range of hurdles to jump over... no Eyefinity support for XP, no TripleHead support if you want to avoid a displayport adapter, and no powered displayport adapters available even if you want to spend more money!

Nope cheapest being the p2210, its £205 direct from dell btw.
Still waiting on a finance agreement for 3 of em


Then theres the new NEC for £299, then its jumps to around £400+ Dells.
I think there may be some lenovas also but they seem to be hard to come by here.
