Need tips on how to stay awake all night

Keep active, don't read to much and tire your eye's out, expect to feel like you are dying at 0500, expect to laugh at anything at around 0600, drink lucozade like you really want diabetes when you are older and chuck cold water on your face every hour and you are sorted. Worked for me over the years.

Do you get paid much for this job? 2 hours worth of work and get paid for 8 hours and you can surf the net, sleep and watch tv, it sounds awesome.

With a job that awesome, I wouldn't need to be paid much.

Read, surf the net, play games, watch TV...all it would take is a few mugs of tea and it would be pretty much what I do for fun when I'm not working. I'd cheerfully do that for enough to live on. It's not very far from staying at home doing what I like and being paid for it.

For the long term, the easiest thing to do is to shift your life and become nocturnal rather than diurnal. It isn't hard to do. You're doing 8 hour shifts, so it's just a 9-5 job shifted in time. Even on your days off, stick to the same pattern. So 2300 for you is like 0900 for someone working 9-5, etc.

Varying shifts are very difficult. Working the same hours each day isn't.

I work nights all the times, I keep my self awake either with a book, psp, or 3 cans of relentless, and the constant bickering of work collegues

Well I just finished my first shift. Sadly I forgot to take my laptop, so after just an hours worth of work I spent the rest of the night watching TV and helping myself to free food/drink from the kitchen. :D

Didn't fall asleep, but felt a bit rough around 3:30-4am.

It's £7 per hour.

You’re still posting shouldn’t you be getting some sleep?

I was a night auditor for a hotel for a few years and it's not so bad.

Get yourself into a routine, you can't be a day person and work nights 5 days a week. I would always go to bed once I got home around 8am and sleep until 3pm. I basically just reversed my body clock. On days off, I would still stay up until at least 5-6am. If you try to revert back to sleeping normal hours, it's just going to mess you up.

loads of thigns you can do. if the boss says its ok to surf the net, theres a great forum on overclockers website so i hear.

if you have a laptop, MSN, Games, Films, Pr0n.
Books, Work (if your studying for anything),
PSP, Nintendo DS or something like that?
Take some snacks, plenty to drink.

i think providing you know your i na work environment, and its your first shift, you'll probably find it quite easy to stay awake anyway, however my guess is that it will become more difficult as time goes on and you get more comfortable.

if bosss says its ok to sleep... thou shalt sleep ! :p
