Hi all, i'm looking for a new harddrive about 1tb in size, the only requirements are the capacity and the longest life possible, which can be at the expensive of speed or rpms etc as its only a storage drive. Any recommendations? i was just thinking of a WD green but then again i don't have the slightest clue :(

cheers for any help

There's no such thing as a drive that lasts longer than others, there are 'enterprise' versions of drives which list higher MTBF's but in reality they're no more reliable than consumer models.

Go for whatever has the price and features you want. I'd suggest the Samsung F2's personally as they're very cheap (under £70 for 1.5TB), perform very well for 5400rpm disks and if there are issues their RMA service is the best.

I would stay away from WD Green. One died withing three weeks of having it.

Samsung F2 would be my choice if not WD RE4-GP.

Not really. You have 20TB HDD capacity, not a 20TB HDD. Small but important difference.

I agree with you...but if you need 2TB, IMO WD RE4-GP should be a better choice than WD20EADS or Hitachi 2TB or Seagate LP right??
